(Help) How Can I Use Lync, Connect It Outlook

Recommended Posts

Hi All,
We need to use Lync for some project study. I do not know it say domain.com, then cant find lync server. What and how can set it up on my computer? It is too complicated to me. I downloaded Lync 2013 64 basic and Lync Server 2013 trial 180 day. I found http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/lync-help/training-courses-for-lync-2013-HA104032084.aspx but I can not sign in below domain.com with my Hotmail/outlook email account. pop up reads: "It cant connect lync, lyn server could not find" or something similar.

I use Windows 8.1 Pro 64 WMC, Office Pro Plus 2013. Please help. Thanks. :)

Silly me, I found out it works with Windows server 2012. Is it correct? if it needs SSD partition, I am not going to d/l install windows server 2012. Keep going with Windows 8.1 pro and veteran Hotmail.

Lync is a corporate communication tool. You need to have deployed Lync servers on a domain to use it. You can't use it with just your Hotmail.

You can find more information here - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398616.aspx

However, be warned getting it up and running is quite the task and requires expertise in networking, server administration, Active Directory, and infrastructure. Its not something an end user would ever attempt.
