Dudlington
Hey, what happened to the thread where someone (i forget who dammit) leaked a file called objectdock.zip which contained objectdock.exe? When I ran it, it would seem to close the taskbar (which I couldn't get back without logging off) and in it's place there was an aquadock looking thing with the scaling icons that bulge when you do a mouse-over. If you right click, it would pop up another "link" but they were all called "test" and didn't do anything... I was reading the thread when I went to refresh the page and I got an error saying I don't have permission to view the thread, and I haven't been able to find it since... Anyone else see it or at least know what I'm talking about/why it was deleted?

Dudlington
oh yeah I think I remember who started the thread - it was Neoguigui. Just want more info on the program as it doesn't really seem to be functional. It was there one second and gone the next :(
kawai
Because Neowin is one of Starcrap's ######, they don't have any problems to post links of leaked MS beta (direct x) but they sure have problems with starcrap.

Slacker
For those who do have this contraversial dock, have you made any attempt to de-compile the thing, and edit the thing so that it would be useful? I would try myself, but I havent done any programming in over 3 years, and I wasent all that good at it then...
-outcast-
i looked at it in reshacker a bit (thats about as far as my skills go..) and i saw a screenshot of irc and some other wierd stuff inside. I wonder who Brad leaked this too in the first place... of course its buggy but its neat to look at and brag to friends with

Dazzla Veteran Posted January 25, 2002 Veteran Share Posted January 25, 2002 I just thought i'd post and tell my experiences with it. Its okay, you cant remove the standard "test items" without delving into reshacker. you can add shortcuts to the dock just by dragging programs/shortcuts onto it. th eanimation effect is quite good. Icons that wern't originally there dont look to impressive when zoomed in, but i'm gonna make some 128 x 128 objects to implant in there with reshacker :devious: , The genie effect is alright, although if I had the choice I'd turn it off, it really is a novelty. It has a taskswitcher, as in it keeps track of running programs which is quite cool. Anyway enough of my babbling, here's some screenshots:
[idkfa]
do i need to do something special to get my windows hiding with this cool animation in the bar? coz it doesnt work over here, they just go down with the standard animattion to where the taskbar was
configure Veteran Posted January 25, 2002 Veteran Share Posted January 25, 2002 We post leaked file as long as that leaked file is a freeware. It doesn't matter where it came from. Now for the disappearance of thread matter, moderator who delete/hide thread would probably emailed or PMed the thread starter explaining why it was removed from the forum. I didn't touch that thread so I can not give any information on where it went. The disappearing of threads might occur during a move to new dedicated server which I *think* we lose some old thread during the moving. So there.. we are not anybody's ######. ;)
Guest deadzombie
Object dock is still very much in development at Stardock. Unfortunatly, the leaked file yesterday may very well kill it's development for legal reasons. Stardock has been working on the legal front to get this app past Apple and it's pack of blood thirsty lawyers. If you want this app to still have a chance, stop any distibution of it that you see, and report the instance to Stardock. Only then can Object Dock ever really see the light of day as an app with the features we would all like to see. If you really want to see the Object Dock, and don't care at all if Stardock finishes it or not, I can say that you're wasting your time. Here's what it's about; a) Has nice mouseover effects. b) uses crappy system icons for applications -> looks bad. c) quicklaunch area not finished and not functional. d) Genie effect is true genie, still needs alot of work as it kills sys performance. e) Object dock still has many bugs. While it holds promise for Aqua fans, right now your standard Windows taskbar looks and functions 100 times better. Keep Object Dock alive, stop the leaks! neo1980
There are other companies which makes products better than Stardock for example, so its not really important that stardock should continue it or not, if they make it or not, it will have legal implications for stardock so its better its leaked the way it is and someone who is talented carry on from here and do something about it :)

Stardock should have thought of that before they leaked it out... once one person gets a hold of it of course its going to spread like crazy.... its too late to do anything now might as well share it with ppl. disciple
has anyone checked with stardock or with the maker of the program to see if that's alright. certainly it was leaked by some untrustworthy person (as any file is leaked) but if you were the creator of the program and wanted it confidential, etc. wouldn't you appreciate it if someone at least asked you. online ethics might do some good here...
