Executable icons missing

Recommended Posts

After playing around with Stardock software (my laptop really didn't like it) and removing it, it seems to have taken ALL images from installed program executables which I first noticed when it manifested itself in the form of my taskbar having white images.

I have tried a repair install for office (no difference) and also completely removed Chrome and re-installed it, again no difference. As you can see all "system" icons like control panal, services etc all show absolutely fine. Whatever has happened seems to have only affected installed desktop applications only.

I'm at a complete loss as to what to do here other than to format my laptop and start again, if this is my only option then so be it but its a bit of a lengthy process and don't want to jump in there without trying other things first.

Sorry should have mentioned, I have tried that and perhaps I don't fully understand it correctly however it doesn't seem to be the cache that is broken the actual executables themselves have no icons either (maybe the cache takes care of both, I assumed not)

Thanks but unfortunately not, I haven't specifically looked for it, but I think the file .ico's were ok, can't be 100%. It seems to just be the applications themselves, funny enough the stat screen shows all the correct and relevant icons. That to me is more what the Cache would be for so that suggests its working OK.
