EA Sports contract to end with XBox?

Why wouldn't they?

I have no idea. A friend told me this who really keeps up with the gaming industry and I was wondering if it was true or not. Meaning, have there been any press releases come out on this subject?

no, not that i have heard, they are ust not making games online compatible. they wouldnt ever stop making games on other systems as long as they are making money. unless ps2 put a very large pile of cash up for grabs.

i actually read in a magazine that ea sports may be bringing online support for a few of their xbox games, so i doubt a contract with the xbox is going to end anytime soon.

To be honest, EA Sports games are getting beat out in almost all genre's by other games, for instance:

NHL 2004 is not nearly as good as NHL 2K4, I mean, NHL 2004, it's damn impossible to do anything. I've mastered 2004, but 2K4 aka ESPN NHL Hockey is much better, same with ESPN NFL Football, NFL FEVER 2004, but not much greater than Madden, Madden is actually pretty good. Basketball, who knows, EA has the golf titles down pretty well, but EA really isn't as dominant as before, wouldn't be the biggest loss in the world.

I've spoken to some of the folks at EA burnaby..... the word is.. they hate the XBOX...... that's the deal

Care to elaborate, or are you just regurgitating what some EA janitor said?

Why hate the Xbox? From a developer's point of view, it's a goddamn DREAM. I got the Xbox development kit and I had an app running on my Xbox in UNDER TWO HOURS THAT I WROTE MYSELF. There's SO much sample code and examples with the thing that I can't understand why anyone would not like it. It used MS Developer Studio, which every Windows developer should know inside and out, it has a graphics engine capable of 1920x1080i, a hard drive, an ethernet port, and real-time Dolby Digital. Also, it uses WELL-KNOWN API CALLS. If you develop games for the PC, you can pick up Xbox development easily.

So why the f--k would developers HATE it?

EA hates it because microsoft won't let EA use their internet stuff, and EA refuses to use live.

Bingo.

EA has an online service of their own, why would they hurt their own service by bringing online games to a rival?

Ok, I understand about the rival services, but that still doesn't explain why EA "hates the Xbox".

They do in their own way. They **** milions of people over for no real reason other than to spite microsoft by using Live. I mean why make it good when you already have a ****ty online service.

I made a promise to myself not to buy any EA Sports games for Xbox until they have Live capability. I've stuck with Sega Sports for all my Xbox sports gaming. Even though I like Madden more, I won't buy it.

Firstly it can't be that much of a devs dream if NBA Live is such a crappy looking game AND has a shocking frame rate at the same time. Then again, maybe EA has limited talent.

But I read recently that MS and EA are working on an agreement to get the EA games online with Xbox Live anyway and it might be close.

As far as gameplay goes, I like ESPN better then madden. Madden offers alot more in terms of features, ie. the different challenges, PLAY EDITOR!, etc. But, i really think the "physics" of ESPN plays more like real football. Or, maybe more like how football looks on TV. If madded was on Live!, I would have never bought ESPN, but now I am glad I did. The actually "game" is more fun, imo.
