Cities/Towns Where We Live (pics)

Title Edited

Partial credit goes to JohnsonBox for this, because his post about Chinese cities and places made me think that it would be good if we had a thread where Neowin members could post their own city/town.

Because of the diversity of the locations of people who come here I thought that it would be really cool to have a thread where we could see what it is like where everybody lives.

To get things started Ive decided to lay a few posting rules:

1. Post the name/state/country of your town.

2. Try to keep images small (perhaps even thumbnails) so that 56k users wont stress too much.

3. Perhaps you could post a bit of information about your town and your pics.

(I appologise if this has been done before but i have never seen it done here yet)

I'll get things started by posting my city:

Newcastle, NSW, Australia

One of Australia's oldest cities, 160km north of Sydney. We had Australia's largest recorded earthquake in 1989. "Lake Macquarie" is next to Newcastle, the 2 cities join, I actually live in Lake Macquarie (by about 100m). Newcastle is currently an important port in NSW. Lake Macquarie is Australia's largest Salt Water lake.

A view from Swansea (in Lake Macquarie) looking east towards the sea. I dont have many good pictures of Lake Macquarie and that is a bad example. Its actually a nice place.

Please dont be shy, I'd love to see other people post their town.

Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

1.6 Million people. What can I say? The images speak for themselves.

Sorry about the image sizes - I'm too damn lazy to resize them to thumbnails.

Ahh...New Hampshire on my mind...

heh, are those your shoes on the bottom? :D

anyway, /me lives in Canberra (capital), it has around the same population of Washington DC if i remember correctly. most suburbs have their own characteristics, some are full of yuppies living in stylish apartments, oldies living in town houses, suburbian families living in the north near golf courses, etc.

I live in Bayswater - an outer suburb of Melbourne, Australia. I don't have any pics of Bayswater itself (which strangely is nowhere near the bay, or for that matter, water) - and It's pretty ugly for the most part anyways, so here is a nice pic of Melbourne...

/edit: A nice compilation of pics - check it out! http://evodotnet.write2left.com/melb.htm

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Population just about 2.5-3 millions (can't really guess how much). One of the world's most liveable city, nice city to live...and with friendly people and community. Lots of nice foods here too. So many new apartments building here right now...especially in Docklands area.
