New monitor - ASUS 27"

Recommended Posts

My old Dell 27" started acting funny on me, so I used that as an excuse to get a new monitor.  A 30" is too large for as close as I sit, so I got another 27".

I bought an ASUS PB278Q w/ 2560x1440 res.  It has a really nice pic.  Nice and bright and doesnt need any config right out of the box.  I didn't realize how dim my Dell had gotten.

And since nobody in here believes you when you say you bought something unless you have pics - here :

Looks nice.. how much did you pay for it.

Tax and everything was $540.  A good deal IMO.

The Dell Ultrasharp was $799, and LG with same specs was $999, and the Samsung with same specs was $899.

My eyes couldnt tell the difference, so I went with the ASUS - I hope going cheap doesnt come back to bite me on the ass :pinch:

Got the same one a few months ago to replace a Samsung 24" that I got when it came out and is still looking awesome by the way. The Asus is awesome.  Love it to death.  Havent had any issues with it at all.  I actually got mine for $499 and it was worth every penny.

Yanks, I agree -  I am really impressed.  I dont know if Im high from that new electronics smell or what but Titanfall looks great & it can only go up to 1920x1200.

If you dont mind me asking, which Samsung 24" did you have ?  I had a 245BW that was a great effing monitor.

That is good price point. I really like ASUS quality. I have two ASUS laptop and they both are awesome. One was abused very much during arguments with my wife and was thrown around here and there but that is still working. However, now I use it as a Desktop and permanently attached to my TV so it is out of danger now. I recently purchased another ASUS laptop for $400 and it is sturdy laptop with nice keyboard and 8GB RAM with Pentium processor. I had purchased korean 30 inch monitor on ebay called crossover. And it is another good looking monitor.  Oh yeah, I also got 245BW and it still works absolutely fine even though it is getting 8 years old now.

Yeah that Samsung was great.  As old as it was, it was still better than 95% of the 24" monitors on the market and it was years older.  I hope I can say the same about this ASUS.  But you're right - ASUS makes some good stuff.  Like Corsair, its a name you can trust that if you buy their product, pretty good chance it will be quality.

I just ordered this same monitor. Should be here tomorrow! Going to try over clocking it to 85-90Hz...

Is that the new ASUS monitor that comes with G-Sync? I am waiting for that one to come out to upgrade. Reports initially mentioned April - May.

No, that monitor uses a TN panel, this one is PLS.

I have the same Samsung. 245BW.  I actually use both the Asus and the Samsung.  My Samsung almost hit the garbage last year when i thought it dies but before i tossed it I figured I would take it apart and check it and it turned out to be a $1.50 resistor.  I replaced the resistor and that bad boy is still kickin and looking great.
