leesmithg
My son has windows 8.1 and a couple of months ago ran netplwiz. Then the system started to request a password again. I ran netplwiz again, still requests password. I also tried a sysinternals app from Microsoft also. Still requests password. So anyone got something else to stop having to enter a password from logoff or a boot to get to desktop?
helpifIcan
Not sure but I thought that on logoff, shutdown and restart a password was required. Mine is that way sleep does not need password but a shutdown or restart reqiures one.
exotoxic
Did you make sure the password entered in netplwiz was correct?? Did you uncheck apply, recheck apply the "requires a username and password..."???

Did you uncheck apply, recheck apply the "requires a username and password..."??? Yes, it was the right password. I followed the right procedure, I think this only started when the v8.1 update was applied.
Elitrium
I ran in to the same issue upgrading to 8.1. I'm not sure if your son is using a live or local account but converting from live -> local, ended up fixing the issue for me... oddly enough. leesmithg
I found out what the problem is. It is to do with password protection when a screen saver is running. So thanks for any help.
