How do I change Opera 21 Ctrl + Backspace behavior?

Recommended Posts

(CRAP THE POST DELETED DUE TO THIS $&!&@&@Y@#@&@ AAAARGGG)

OP note: I already had the post written but went to modify something and, thanks to the habit Ctrl + Backspace, it killed what I was filling out :angry:

Original post (trying to recreate it):

Seems that someone on Opera decided it was a good idea to put Ctrl + Backspace as a shortcut for going to Parent Directory. This has been getting to my nerves since I often mechanically delete words by using that combination.

I stumbled upon someone with the same issue:

http://superuser.com/questions/726337/is-there-a-way-to-disable-ctrlbackspace-behavior-in-opera-21-0-1432-0

But can?t find a way to actually implement that solution. Where should I put that piece of code?  I have forgotten my password (again) on Stack Exchange and it seems that the recovery is broken. That?s why I?m asking here directly.

Thanks a million!

Open RUN using Win Key + R

Copy paste this if you have Opera Stable 21:

%APPDATA%\Opera Software\Opera Stable\Preference

Open with dialog will appear and will ask you how to open, either use Notepad or if you have Notepad++ or Sublime Text etc then go with it.

Simple copy paste below after first curly bracket

"Keybindings": {
"Basic": {
"ParentDirectory": [ "Ctrl+Shift+Backspace" ]
}
}

If still can't understand, I can make video for you for whole process..

Thanks Zip! Unfortunately Opera is renaming the file to Preferences.bad :/

Edit:

WAIT WAIT WAIT!!!

I got it! WOOOHOOOO!

Thanks a million.

It's very important to have indented correctly the text.

I put two spaces before  "basic" and 4 spaces before "ParentDirectory". It seems that not doing so will result in Opera flagging the file and creating a new one.
