Jimmerz28
If I were to go back in time and kill my grandfather (of course when he still had no descendants), I would never have been born, but if I never existed, I never could have gone back in time to kill him. John Veteran Posted December 10, 2003 Veteran Share Posted December 10, 2003 it's more of a grandfather paradox than a grandfather theory...
darkmark327
Yeah well unless we discover infinite energy required to surpass the speed of light, we'll never know. Or until we can start jumping between quantum multiverses. But then it's no longer a paradox at all, because it's just a different timeline. mart3ll
Tesla tried it out and some scholars link his testing of his Tesla Coil in New York to the Great Siberia Explosion. Tesla's claim is that he could focus energy anywhere on the earth with his coil and precise calculations. Check out his story... pretty amazing stuff. He was a genius at harnessing power from the earth itself. Would be hilarious if it was his coil that caused the explosion... no wonder he didn't take credit. ;)

And as for the previous quote on how energy companies would make money they can go screw themselves. An Italian scientist (who's name evades me for the moment) has been researching harnessing the power of fusion, and has actually gotten somewhere, but "someone" (glares at energy companies) keeps destroying his researching facilities and computers (most of his research is done in a home laboritory). And when the first electric car came out way back when, the rights were bought by an energy company, so of course they won't be releasing a fully electric car because they own the rights, and that would be putting themselves out of business. Energy companies (i.e. oil) will wait til our resources are dwindling, and raise prices even more, enabling them to sap every penny out of mother nature they can, they don't care about the future, just making money here and now. Sorry but I don't support them at all, greedy bast****... And yes shutting down oil companies would create a rift in employment, but creating high tech jobs will in the long run be a positive effect on the economy, creating a more educated society, because more schooling will be needed for the high tech industry. Technology will continue to evolve, and so will the demand for higher educated people, which is why so many high tech corportaions go oversees for their employees, because we have such a shortage of them here in the US... Bah, I've babbled enough, back to my CS project...
Maverick[TG]
oh, i totally knew about the "grandfather theory"... i mean, hasn't everyone seen Back To The Future? i just didnt know what it was called. and in reference to those multiverses, i read Timeline, by Michael Crichton. great book. cool ****. i thikn it's time for me to read up on Tesla, he seems cool. prozak
electricity needs something to conduct it. and it can't be the air cause that way it would be incontrolable.
mart3ll
Why would the electric companies not want electric cars to exist? It'd be more business for them. he said "energy company" not electric company. Hmmm... an oil and gas company buys the plans to an electric car so they won't be built... let's see... 2 and 2 together... ah yes. :shifty:

AdmiralRooster
Wireless Electricity. That is the most rediculous thing I have ever heard. there is a reason we use wires. To control the flow of Electricity. Why let electricity free? It's not ridiculous, read the rest of the thread. I don't feel like explaining again. Read up on mutual inductance, they use it in pacemakers so you don't have to have surgery when the battery dies.

Homie
Theres a company working on a pad that you can rest items on it and it charges the batteries. But the devices you charge need to be specialy designed to use it because it uses a electromagentic feild to send power to a receiver that charges the battery. Im sure in a manner this could be expanded to larger ranges to maybe, lets say, your entire home, car, office, store or whatever. Just as in cellphones though, Im just worried about the long term side effects on the human body, especialy the brain.
