tonicx
I just got this game today, very excited, until I ran the game, it forced me to run "Safe" mode because my GeForce 2 mx200 was not supported by the game, and then I crashed to desktop with a pop saying read the "Readme" file. Now I'll have to return the game  Anyone else got a Nvidia GeForce 2 mx 200?
HellBender
Wow, that blows. It's an excellent game. Try installing the newest drivers for your card. forceware 53.02 i believe.
SuBHuMaNGuY
Yeah it hates my laptop graphics too. Ati M6 64 MB DDR. Runs max payne 2, call of duty and practically everything else just fine. Oh well... looks like a good game too

isus
hmm... it could be the fact that the gf2 is very old, or maybe your drivers/directx aren't as new as they could be...
tonicx
Yea I'll be getting a new computer next year. Hopefully with an ATI 9800xt card.
+BeLGaRaTh Subscriber¹ Posted December 7, 2003 Subscriber¹ Share Posted December 7, 2003 Unfortunately there wil be a slew of games coming out that will only run on a GF3 or above :( Even people with a GF4MX are having problems playing some of the newer games (which is just a sort of sawn off GF2, despite the GF4 moniker). So that is not an option divertom15. There are going to be a lot of unhappy gamers this christmas and in the new year when other releases are made :( FYI I recently got Knights Of The Old Republic and that complained that my GF Ti500 was too old and may not run the game, I am however unable and unwilling to purchase another card for the forseeable future :(
sin-ergy
a radeon 8500 or the gf4 ti4200's are fairly cheap nowadays. I have the gf4 and it runs the game flawlessly. go pick one up!
Gary_Player
I'm starting to feel the age of my GF4 ti 4400 I can still run most games reasonably but most newer games that use DX9 stuff drop my frame rates like CRAZY. In dx9 stuff a readon 9600 pro out performes my card but in older DX8 and older games my ti4400 still rules ...I'd like to get a radeon 9800 but my mobo only supports agp4x with PCI express comming out...*sigh*...stupid intel, always changing their **** ;)
Flash
the fact this game doesn't work for gf2/gf4mx cards is that the cards don't have vertex and pixel shaders which this game requires
honoriak
that sucks.. i also got silent hill 3 and i wasn't able to play it with my old, crappy GF2 MX.. (N)
TheLegendOfMart
Prince of Persia REQUIRES pixel and vertex shaders, hence why the GF3 and upwards is required (excluding GF4 MX since it doesnt have them either)
CactuzJak
Ya unfortunately PoP doesn't run on GF2/4 MX video cards, which i found out the hard way as well, luckily I had a Ti4600 sitting in a box which doesnt run well at all in WinXP, but in a last ditch attempt to get it running found out that its perfect in Win2k :D
Ironman273
A lot of people are getting very ****ed at Ubi for having GeForce 4 MX cards. The bottom line s that people have gotten used to not reading system requirments. That, and the inability for them to comprehend how much they got taken by nVidia for buying such a piece of crap video card in the first place. There should be a law or something. I mean, rebadging some old, leftover GeForce 2s into GeForce 4's (which you'd think should be better than the 3s) is just plain criminal.

I think it time people actually bothered to update their cards because the gf2 and gf4 mx's are rubbish. What do people expect from an old card, it is not fast enough for newer games coming out, sure it works okay for cs,ut and q3 but those are old games and the gf2s were utilized for that. Ah well enough of me talking.
+E.Worm Jimmy Subscriber¹ Posted December 8, 2003 Subscriber¹ Share Posted December 8, 2003 gf4ti 4mx is pure crap - i am surprised that it still runs new game which come out (at horrible details and resolution obvi, but still runs) heh my 9700 non pro runs everything sweet though, i got the last card in the store (and looks like in the town too) so i got a huge discount (got it for 9500 non pro price) with some overclocking it runs everything every game at full res, full detail and AF AA too. but i can totally see prince not running on mx line - graphix in the game look amazing. BananaMan
Anita: Nope, no demo available. TonicX: You really should have read the system requirements. It does state on the box it needs a Geforce3+. If you lived in my neighbourhood, I'd let you have my Ti4200 BIOS OC'd to Ti4600+ until you picked up a better video card for yourself. For the cost of about 2-4 games you could yourself a much better card. ;)

+BeLGaRaTh Subscriber¹ Posted December 8, 2003 Subscriber¹ Share Posted December 8, 2003 TonicX: You really should have read the system requirements. It does state on the box it needs a Geforce3+. Thats the problem, an awful lot of people bought GF4MX cards thinking they were better than GF3 purely because of the higher number in the name. They didnt realise that Nvidia had screweed about with the numbering as it would look bad to badge stuff up as two refisions ago. Another thing is, these cards were going incrediby cheaply, so people just didnt stop and think how could a sub ?50 card compare with a card (gf3) that is ?100+. Oh well, I suppose the old addage is true, you get what you pay fo:(:(
