How do I sync a specific folder on my PC to Dropbox?

Question

I want to sync the Pictures folder on my PC to my Dropbox account.

I can't see a way to do this in the Dropbox software.

Do I need to use a symbolic link?

My understanding is you can only do selective folder sync within the dropbox folder itself, you can't manually select other windows folders outside of the dropbox folder.

The easiest way from a quick look at Google seems to be using Dropbox Folder Sync. Either that or move the folder in to your dropbox folder, then create a shortcut to the folder wherever it originally was.

Move your pictures folder to the drop box folder?

Click Start and enter...

shell:UsersFilesFolder

Right Click on the folder you want to move and choose properties > Location.

Change the path from "C:\Users\Elliot\Pictures" to "D:\Elliot\Dropbox\Pictures" or wherever you wish.

Click OK

If the folder does not exist in the location specified, you will be asked create it.

When asked, choose Yes to move all files from the old folder.

This will also update your library locations.

Are you talking about a "folder" or your pictures library folder?

I never understood why people think they need to sync folders from all over the system.  If you want to have pictures in dropbox, then create a pictures folder in your dropbox folder and use that.  Add it to your picture library if you want, etc.

If you want easy access to this folder, create a shortcut, put it on your fav list, etc..
