If they are just stuck pixels, you can try rubbing them gently with your finger and 5 times out of 10 they will unstick.

Ouch I was concentrating looking for pixels then pressed the "Single" button...... I think I'm blind!!!

Nice program though, would be interesting to see if it worked for anyone. I'm lucky enough not to have any dead pixels :D

for the non-mac users here, what does this program actually do?

It can either change the entire screen to black, white, red, green, blue, or your color, or it can cycle those colors really quickly to, potentially, jar the stuck pixel back into normal operation.

  • 6 months later...

wow someone actually found it lol.

We're now working on v5 which will (with any luck) have a PC version as well as some more eye candy and the Burn Control will be back at last!

Anyways, keep your eyes open on VersionTracker.com and macupdate.com for v5 :)

Ugh...the download is dead.

I noticed that too. Does anyone have a mirror? I have one dead pixel that developed right in the centre of my screen. (behind the glowing Apple logo) and it's driving me nuts. Anything that can fix it would be great.

Hi,

We have pulled the download until version 5 is complete.

Try the massage (anti-clockwise) for about 5-10 minutes and see if that works.

Version 5 should be out within the next couple of weeks :)

Can't wait for version 5 :) I heard v4 was pretty good. I'll be using both the Mac and PC versions when released.. no dead pixels on my PowerBook but my ThinkPad has a dead pixel in the taskbar that drives me insane

I was looking at my screen and I thought I had a dead pixel :o but it was just a tiny spec of dirt which I removed. I'm really lucky not to have any dead pixels. Some of my friends have been through hell with there expensive LCDs having dead pixels and there monitor makers not having a policy on dead pixels / screen replacements :(

One of the other developers got a selection of dead pixels on his PowerBook when he bought it, and since then he has sent it back 8 times (for different problems, a lot caused by the technicians) and they finally replaced his screen with one that has only one dead pixel on. Its a joke really.

We counted and its actually 10 times now lol.

Also,

Just for future reference, a dead pixel will be white. Dead pixels will not display any colour. Some stuck pixels cannot be fixed and so you might consider them dead but as they are still displaying a colour they are just stuck.
