Bizkit
Well, every year, on Christmas Eve, some on our longtime friends come over and we watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, then we write questions about the movie to see if we can stump the other people. Its good fun, and the movie is funny as hell. Then on Christmas day, we open our gifts and then we go to watch a movie. Last year it was Lord of the Rings, and I think that this year it might be the same. I was just wondering what y'all do for Christmas.

syncmaster
We spend Christmas Eve with my Dad's family, then come home and watch National Lampoons Christmas Vacation (Never get's old!) then on Christmas day open presents and go to my mom's family gathering. Always have fun though! :woot:
pimpshiznid
Watch "National Lampoons Christmas Vacation" on Christmas eve, so it ends right before midnight, then appear on my nieces and nephews doorsteps for a few 'special' presents. On Christmas day, wake up, open gifts. Then drive to my grandmothers house, for more gifts. Then drive to my other grandparent's house, to finish up the gift giving... blackcoffee
We usually watch A Christmas Story w/ Ralphie :w00tw00t!: And go over my Aunt's house and Eat Turkey and What not over there and just open presents together on Christmas Eve w/ the family. poind
Do the turkey on Christmas Eve, and recent tradition (depending on who's around) is to go to a late-night movie showing at a local theatre -- usually not a mainstream thing, either, as there're a couple local cinemas that play sort of rare things for just a day or so. Christmas Day, frankly, we tend to end up getting into some massive house cleaning or something for whoever's hosted. Sad, I know, but it's seemed to keep people cooperative over the relative "battles" that can otherwise eventually occur. :) [Then, I suppose, there's *sometimes* finishing off the white wine / beaujolais from the night before....]
Intelligen
Wow, a lot of people seem to watch movies here. In our family we usually go to the evening church service around 5:30, usually lasts an hour or so and then come home to have supper consisting of fonduing (spelling?) and clam chowder. After that we all do the dishes and open presents in front of the x-mas tree which usually goes til around midnight. I do have to admit that National Lampoons x-mas vocation is hilarious! Never gets old....
Bizkit
That and a Christmas Story are classics! I own both on dvd and will never stop laughing when I watch them.
FaRSightxc2
Well, in our house we wake up at an unearthly time (about 5am) that only seems to exist on a Christmas morning (except when you get in at that time from the night before...). Then we throw about some brightly coloured paper, thus revealing our gifts, and finnish the mornings activities by eating chocolate and messing with over-priced gagets. Then, later, we eat and drink too much rich food, including a big bit of poultry, and end in the climax of a sore belly and a good nights sleep :)
maplecookie Veteran Posted December 8, 2003 Veteran Share Posted December 8, 2003 We normally watch A Christmas Story for about 24 hours straight (my sister LOVES the movie) and we open one gift on xmas eve, that's about it!

mattmatik
Well, since my parents are divorced (but re-married) I usually spend Christmas Eve with my mom and her side of the family, and on Christmas Day with my dad and his side. On Christmas Eve, we usually watch It's A Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story, and either Christmas Vacation or Santa Clause. Also, there usually is a college bowl game that day so we catch most of that. Then we eat about 6pm then open presents. It takes my mom's family forever since we do it one at a time so everyone can see what the other got. Christmas Day we watch Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story (24 hour marathon on TNT). We eat, always smoked turkey and the good stuff, then everyone opens presents all at once. Also, football on that day, too, and we used to watch basketball (used to be NBC's first double-header of the season) but they don't have that anymore :( Then I go to all my friends' houses and see them. Blaise Veteran Posted December 9, 2003 Veteran Share Posted December 9, 2003 One of the only times we all get together during the year. we all get together and go to the tree farm about 40 miles from here and pick our trees the day after thanksgiving, we have been going there for 30 years and are friends with the owners, they have pics of our family over the years on thier wall along with about 8 other families. We have some lunch while the next generations play among the trees and with the owners dogs., then we all go and pick them up around the 12th. We all go to my parents for Christmas dinner, yanking the kids away from thier new toys, which is not usually that hard since they know there will be others there and my parents never give thier grandchildren lame presents like clothes :p My Mother says "thats a parent's job, a Grandparents is to spoil them"
tarzan007
Christmas Eve usually walk to midnight mass in the hot weather. After that leave out a beer (like most people in New Zealand do, we don't muck about with leaving milk!) and some biscuits or cake or christmas mince pies for Santa ;) (Maybe even throw out some carrots for the Reindeer and if you are crafty chop them to look like raindeer have been eating them) Christmas Day, sleep in a bit, unless you have kids :p Have a big feed up for breakfast, open the presents, go down to the beach to enjoy some sand and surf, and have a picnic down there. Return home in the afternoon, eat more, have the family around. Have a big dinner, go to bed after a few beers. I would say that is the typical New Zealand christmas. -edit, Barely any NZ families would watch videos on Christmas day as it is usually a beautiful day outside
sethrd
Isn't actually a Christmas tradition, but on New Years, right as the ball drops, I run around my neighborhood naked yelling, "HAPPY NEW YEARS! Fredde87
e have a normal swedish christmas... On christmas eve we sit down at the tabel and eat, we have another table next to the one we are eating by which has 20 different sorts of foods on.. So you just go and choose the food you want. Then at 15.00 we watch Donald Duck (a swedish tradtion) but this year its a new host (the old one arne wiese died last year after doing 50 christmases or something). Then we all sit down in the living room with christmas sweets and something to drink. Then we spend the rest of the evening opening the presents that have been lying around the christmas tree the last days..
The Angry Bunny
Usually Christmas Eve is spent getting ready for Christmas day, until the night that is. At night We go to either my aunts or cousins and open gifts there and eat. Then I go to my church's midnight service and go home and we all get to open one gift. On Christmas we all open presents whenever I get up (usually last one up lately...), eat, and just spend the day together.
