sengork
I have set up and installed the ATi drivers (the latest ones), ran fglrx configuration script which made the XF86Config-4 file (which has the load "glx" and "dri" modules enabled). Everything runs fine except OpenGL, which is running in software mode ~2 FPS in menus of games. Any help/ideas would be apreciated... BTW Could this have anything to do with nForce2 ? Using Radeon 9500...
sengork
Well anyone can play OpenGL games with their Radeon under Linux ?
MrStaticVoid
Make sure the module fglrx is loaded into the kernel. Post the output to dmesg and /var/log/XFree86.0.log. That may help a little bit.
kjordan2001
Did you do an "opengl-update ati"? And are you using the kernel drm (only if you use 2.6 will you want this really) or xfree-drm?
MrStaticVoid
Isn't the opengl-update command only on Gentoo? Correct me if I'm mistaken.

kjordan2001
Isn't the opengl-update command only on Gentoo? Correct me if I'm mistaken. It's a part of xfree-drm. Not sure if Slackware needs that or if it has a drm that ATI drivers like.

kjordan2001
Just use fglrxconfig that comes with the drivers. It'll set up an XF86Config-4 which will be suited to the needs you enter.

I did run that but still no decent performance... :(
