The Baldur's Gate games, although published by Black Isle, were made by Bioware, which is alive and well. Neverwinter Nights is also made by Bioware, and published by Atari - therefore, this doesn't effect it at all.

A moment of silence for the dearly deceased please.

..........

So long Fallout series, you were the best RPG series of all time, where else can I find a game where I can become a prize fighter, porn star, hero, and gangster in a game. This is truly devestating news, because I know that any other people who might contiune the Fallout series will botch it

Jile always remeber to add your /sarcasm tag. I really hate this, Fallout was my absolute favorite RPG series. You could do almost anything, and the story was very involving. But I know one thing, if anybody decides to pick up the Fallout series they will most likely botch it.

finally some sense in this thread, thanx nazgul for schooling the n00bs :)

You know who I want to go under? JoWood, they crapped up every good game they got (Aquanox series most notable)

JoWood? are you crazy? AquaNox one got horrible reviews. The second was in imporvement.

And so another developer bites the dust because their publisher doesn't want them to produce the games the developers want to produce. Oh well, Interplay joins the ranks of Electronic Arts (who shut down Westwood early 2003), Sierra (who shut down the B5 flight sim development team) and Infogrames (who have a long and [sarcasm] proud [/sarcasm] history of bad business decisions, the latest of which is also 'focusing on consoles', an insidious trap into which many a great developer and publisher have fallen never to be seen again).

When are they gonna learn... :x

I highly doubt that this is the end of the Fallout franchise, it may never be the same (and may very well be an unworthy piece of crap) but someone will buy the rights to it.

I doubt Herve will want to sell off the Fallout License. They do have FOBOS2 to complete first, afterall. Actually, having said that, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they do sell it off. That seems to be the only way Interplay can make money at the moment. Herve is quite fond of giving away rights to games that are in development (and cheese as well). Just think, if it wasn't for Herve and Co., we could be playing Baldur's Gate 3: The Black Hound in a month or so.
