Xbox steals Half Life 2 and Doom 3!

Recommended Posts

Half-Life 2 is coming to PC as well as Doom 3. They both might get ported to the XBOX, but probably not for a while.

its the most likely candidate for the port, code its easiest to port and seems the best console to play fps on

ps2 port would look plop, the gamecubes pad is a bit of a let down for fps games

no idea why its sad? im getting it for the pc and xbox

Oh good Lord... ok, Half-Life 2 and Doom III are coming to PC, don't get your panties in a wad over that ad, sheesh. They're both being ported over to the XBOX, and no other CONSOLE (no other current console could run them anyway). Considering the XBOX uses DirectX and a custom Nvidia chipset based on NV30, it really isn't hard for these companies to port their games to XBOX, so obviously these two huge PC titles would come to XBOX.

Breathe, that's it, breathe  :p

its been known for ages that d3 was for the xbox and no other. carmack said that himself. If the other consoles had larger memory and a hardrive then they porb could have a version of d3

U know what... we PC gamers suffer lately as games being published console first than ported to PC and u can just feel the quality is low , is the console market that big for game developers to focus so much on it?

Erm, the doom 3 and hl2 are being made seperately and are not ports from xbox version so don't worry,

Thanks cocklea, I like it too :)

only for Xbox and PC then! no other console!

I'm back after being silent form the source code leak. This is a troubling speculation though. I will break my silence though on HL2 for Xbox and PC. HL2 PC Development is still ongoing. Xbox Development started back in January 2003 when Valve finished the PC Versions levels and art stuff that could get the ball rolling for Xbox development. Now I must express this. MS did not do what happened to Bungie with Halo. PC Gamers will see HL2 when it's finished. Xbox Version is along ways away. PC Version will ship sooner than Xbox I suspect. What's causing the confusion here is that Valve found a publisher for the Xbox version of HL2. HL2 for PC has a publisher of Sierra Studios/Vivendi Universal. This is totally different. Doesn't mean we'll see Xbox version sooner. It means MS has given funding to Valve to do a Xbox Exclusive Version/Publishing Deal. Microsoft has a way of taking control when they see a big hit that could give them boost in sales. Guess what? Valve stuck it to them in a sense so they wouldn't delay the PC Release. If Valve had chosen to switch the PC Version publisher to MS which version get's done first Xbox/PC? Xbox. Meaning PC Development ceases until Xbox Development is done.

I'm Glad I could clear thing up for you concerned individuals out there.

HL2 is coming.....................................When It's Finished!........................................... :woot:

thank you for gracing us with your presense and breaking your silence so we can hear the gospel

The Pleasure is all mine. Since Valve doesn't want to make public announcements and stay silent on the matters as of late I've decided to stop with holding information from you people. The speculation was getting worse so I spoke up.

They stole Halo, who says they can't steal Doom 3 and HL2. M$ can toss enough cash @ anyone I suppose. It's doubtful the PC releases won't happen, but Valve might be all about it after their source got stolen. It would sure help to prevent all the hacks/mods they are going to get.

Seems everyone wants to jump on this guy when he never said it wouldn't be on the PC, he simply said that Xbox stole them both, he didn't say from whom and it was apparent to me that it was from Sony and Nintendo.

It's funny when people say Microsoft has enough money to get anyone to make exclusive titles for them, you know last time I checked Sony wasn't a slouch either....

Anyhow if this is true I think it will mean a lot for the Xbox, certainly the tide has slowely started to change for Microsoft and even they admitted they wouldn't be the console king with their first generation console but to get two of the most highly anticipated games exclusively on their console means a lot (I know lately some of us have gotten tired of waiting but when these games finally do come out we'll all be playing them).

I have more info on Half Life 2 for PC/Xbox.

I sat in an undisclosed location for a meeting regarding the projects and was informed the following:

PC Version expected Between March 2004 - Jun 2004 (If all goes well with no more hiccupps!)

Xbox Version Is aimed at a simultaneous release with pc counterpart. If this release doesn't happen expect the Xbox version between August 2004 - November 2004.

Note: These are estimates only. Not set in stone.

Enjoy!!! :shifty:

Just a Reminder about me:

I have close ties with Valve, MS, Several UBI Soft affiliated developers, BioWare and Lucasarts. I wasn't forced or given an option to sign an NDA with Valve so I can speak freely as I see fit regarding the HL2 stuff with my discretion of course. All other companies I've signed NDA's with which was a requirement. Valve didn't require it.
