Earthquake Destroyed My House

Recommended Posts

East Coast is virutally diasastor free well if you don't count any possibile nuclear bomb that could roast most the east coast to death in matter of seconds.

Living in Miami and having to deal with Hurriance Andrew, I can tell you that we certainly have our fair share of natural disasters to worry about. Hurricane Andrew just destroyed whole cities. Down south in Miami, there were areas that looked they had a bulldozer go through them. YIKES.

Anyway, not saying we have more hurricanes than you have earthquakes or that one is worse than the other...They each have their various parts. For one, I think hurricanes are better to have than earthquakes simply because you know they're coming. Though, if a category 5 hurricane (sustained wind of 156+ causing catostrophic damage that would level most, if not all buildings in the area), i'm not sure you'd want to know it was coming...

actually that are both in different categories... one is wind... while the other is ground... both equaly bad... (no such thing as a good disaster :p)

During Hurricane Andrew, HUGE trees throughout my neighborhood were uprooted taking huge slabs of concrete with them...And I was pretty far from the actual eye of the storm...(about 30 miles)

the news outlets here have gone bug**** over the 3 (that i remember) earthquakes that we've had...they'd break into shows, front page headlines, and there is always someone who says"well we was jus sittin watchin tv an tha whole house shook an it knocked my beer over"

..Joking.

Was a bit scary though wasn't powerful but I thought it was one of those nuclear bomb shockwaves and the flames would be coming soon.

I did admit get a bit worried I'd die a virgin and nothing but my dogs nsight I accepetred the fact adn waited for the flames but they never came.

Don't worry, you wouldn't have time to think about such things if a nuke was dropped

... the fact that you worried about your virginity and point out that you only had your dogs in sight scares me.

They already have a prison near New Territory...why would they want another near the richest part of Sugar Land. ;)

My school looks like a prison though, it only has like 3 windows.

um whoever said hurricanes dont do much damage, i beg to differ. my dad has a place in ft walton beach on okaloosa island, his place was right on the water. on october 4, 1995, Hurricane Opal hit Ft. Walton directly. He left town the day before, when he returned a week or so later, his other car had completely vanished. there were 4 feet of white sand all the way through his condo. all the furniture from the front room and kitchen - kitchen appliances, tv, couch, dining room table, coffee table, recliner, and etc. was all jammed into a tiny hallway leading to the back bedroom and much of it through the window. 165 mph winds can do just as much damage as an earthquake. they may not damage the foundation, and fire isnt really a factor, but a hurricane is nothing to look down your nose at.
