session
Just wondering if this is too difficult for grade 7 kids? (for Canadian grade 7 kids, that is) Chapter_1___3_Review_Booklet.pdf Edited December 11, 2003 by session
kjordan2001
Yes, unless you actually taught them all that or they're geniuses for their age. Or if you're not the teacher and you're the student, I pity you :pinch:
Winston
yes extremely, im not sure how it is over there, but in yr 7 i remember we started off basic, we did fractions etc and percentages very very basic not this stuff, some of the questions seems reasonable like asking about the numerator question but sum of it is just out of it
MR_Candyman
hmm... *thinking* ya, that's about grade 9 level I'd say.
session
That course is basically designed to prepare grade 7 kids for grade 8 and grade 9 math courses  so i don't know if those problems are too hard for grade 7 kids
linsook
yea, many of the questions are beyond that of the grade 7 level....
Miran
I remember doing harder stuff than that in grade 7. I think it would be fine, depending where you live of course.
linked
I don't have acrobat installed right now, but I can tell you that when I was in 7th grade (3 years ago), we did alot more than fractions and percentages. I believe we learned slope-intercept form that year. Of course, I was in the Advanced group, so that might be some of it. It's only too hard if they don't understand it. CdCViRus
i'd say that yeah, it's too hard not too many kids will get a good mark on that one, unfortunately

Hypercube
Not bad; now if it would be used for standards ... school would be accelerated :)
Original_
Not sure what Grade 7 = in American schooling... but that is similar to what *I* did in 7th grade The average 7th grader couldn't do 10% of that.
graeme_7799
canadian is so much better than american education... look at the numbers, 80%+ can't even locate their city on a map!!!
jymi
iv learnt most of that but some of it still makes me feel stupid
Pzaga
Pretty easy stuff, but what I dislike is the wording... So, it's not difficult for grade 7. A certain selection for #10 has an error, and it's not mathematical. :p
Yvo
holy crap... math that hard in 7th grade, i would have never graduated.

So, it's not difficult for grade 7.A certain selection for #10 has an error, and it's not mathematical. :p fyi, the answer to #10 is C. it's more physics than math! :) his velocity should be 0 since he runs in circle, displacement is 0. (notice how kids are taught that displacement and distance are different in physics!) for A, everyone can do that B, it's just simply algebra D, it's combinatorics but well, they should re-phrase #10. and btw, that is what im asked to teach some grade 7 kids :pinch: Edited December 11, 2003 by session
fosuco
Okay... I'm a freshman in college (at Georgia Tech), and this year is the first year I've used sigma notation... I'd say its pretty crazy for a 7th grader to be doing the same thing. Whoever these kids are though, they will be insanely smart by the time they are my age.
