Grammatical mistakes

Recommended Posts

We've all seen it before. The same people make the same damned mistakes time and time again. No matter how hard you try to remedy their grammatical butchery, your efforts are hopelessly in vain. The most irritating in my opinion is people's inability to properly use the words their, there, and they're correctly. For instance:

"There are many people who often mix up their use of the word 'there'."

"Alaska is a beautiful place. I'd very much like to go there on a long, relaxing vacation."

"They're (they are) all going to flame me for this thread."

So, which get under your skin the most?

one for me is to, too, and two - and my best friend spells horridly, lol: ex: makeing, comeing, haveing, includeing, etc. also tomaroow, pritty, and a few others.

For some kicks:

Reasons Why The English Language Is So Hard To Learn

1. The bandage was wound around the wound.

2. The farm was used to produce produce.

3. The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse

4. The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.

5. Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present.

6. When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes.

7. I did not object to the object.

me tu.

my inglish is puar.

I'm mostly speaking about people who speak it as their native language. If someone doesn't primarily speak it, then I'm very forgiving. Heck, I respect their attempts to tackle such a daunting and needlessly confusing language.

I hate bad grammar!

English isn't my native language, still I try my best.

But Neowin is an international community, so the tolerance level should be high.

In Norway we have these "SMS chat" programs on TV, where kiddies sendt messages via SMS that show up on the screen. Makes me wonder if they even go to school... The grammar is so bad, it's beyond belief...

I do love that about the language.

If you have an excuse as to why you shouldn't have perfect grammar, or you're under 18 then I suppose it's alright. If you're older than that and english is your native tounge you'll just look retarded if you can't speak/type properly. It all sounds fine to me, be a dishwasher all your life and look like a fool who can't get themselves educated, less competition for me. :D

lolz

quick note: I'm 18 and a dishwasher

I won't be come the new year :alien:

LOL, yeah, people with bad grammar always complain when they are corrected.

"Why bother, as long as people understand what I mean?"

The problem isn't communication, but attitude.

If your native language is English, using correct grammar doesn't require a high IQ.

Everyone seems to care about quality. Movies, music, visual styles, computers, software, websites.

Why not go for quality language?

You can use slang, use all lower case, and still make a post that looks good.

(just my personal opinion, don't shoot me)

:)

Yes, why don't we just start an elitest club of individuals who think they are smart. Seriously, grammar should never be used as a measuring mechanism for intelligence.

Pshaww, I'm just naturally smart... (yeah right)
