Customizing My Comp/Run/Control Panel

Recommended Posts

theres the easy way, and the hard way. well, actually, both are about the same. first off, u can get some icon changing progz such as microangelo, e-icons, iconphile, and change fro mthere ,or u can just edit the shel32.dll and other files.

Yes, you need reshack, and from there... I wrote a tutorial about it here... Hope that helps... I hacked mine to look like this:

Hey, Mavis, where did you take that awesome wallpaper? :)

Actually I made it myself... :) thanks! Anyway I uploaded it just now, you can get it here... As far as the icons, they're mainly from the MMIcons set, I converted some of them, as did Dazzla and Scorcho, in this thread. The files may still be offline now, as we never could get in touch with the original artist, but in that thread are detailed instructions on how to convert them yourself. Fairly easy to do, takes only 3 or 4 minutes per icon (after a while you'll get it down to 2 minutes or so) :) - You can find the originals in OSX format at MMIcons.

mavis,

Could you tell me what icon set that floppy drive icon is in, or could you send it to me?

Did you even bother reading my post? :) It's in the MMIcons set. See above.

Anyway thanks for the compliments on the wallpaper guys! I tried to get the colors to match my hacked Luna/Silver theme, if you guys are using a silver theme too, they look pretty good together (IMHO). It's gotta match, right? :) lol

well, I got it from mmicons, so you could get it from there too, and convert it. As I mentioned, there are detailed instructions on how to convert them, in that thread...

chipi, did u reshack? Looks good btw... but I have a question. I assume you're using larger than size 48 icons on ur desktop, right? When you do that, the icons on the right side of the start menu are enlarged of course, and since they are supposed to be 24 pixels, they look terrible blown up. Did you reshack them, and add 48/64/72/etc sizes to those icons? I never bothered because I figured XP would simply use the 24 size icons, whether or not there were larger ones available. but yours look so smooth. How? :)
