jerry
Nice ! Thanks timdorr, Keldyn & KrypToniK. :) Most probably I'll be going for the 12" iBook G4. I'm thinking of getting the base configuration and add a stick of 512MB later. 1. What about the Harddrive ? Apple does charge quite a lot for 60GB. What should I do ? 2. Also I am thinking of getting the Airport card + TV Out Adapter. Do I have to get these accessories from Apple or can I find them anywhere else cheaper ? 3. Is the Airport card proprietary ? 4. Is Airport Extreme worth the extra $ over regular Airport ? 5. Is the LCD of the new iBook G4 same as 12" PB ? I saw the "Mobydock" kind of menu on the left side in the PB whereas at the bottom in the iBook. I hope thats only a customization. 6. Does the Apple logo glow on the hood of the LCD of the new iBook G4 ? Thanks a lot. MERRY CHRISTMAS & ENJOY THE HOLIDAYS
BTallack
1. It's a pain to change the hard drive yourself, you're best to get the one from apple. 2. The airport card is usually about the same price anywhere. 3. Yes. 4. The (new) Powerbooks only support Airport Extreme, not regular Airport. 5. It's called the dock. Apple created it, and yes it's customizable. 6. Yes.

jerry
I was reading up from some people who are having logic board failures with the iBook (G4 as well). Can somebody enlighten me on this ?
Chad
Aren't you the same jerry that chose to belittle Apple and Macs in every Macintosh news item not long ago? As far as logic board failures, yeah there were some, but from what I heard, it wasn't a wide spread problem.
hoyablue
My ibook had logic board failures... but I Ebayed it (after getting it repaired of course) and got a new 17inch PB, this baby RULES.
jerry
Aren't you the same jerry that chose to belittle Apple and Macs in every Macintosh news item not long ago? Nah ! that was my evil twin. :p I still hate Apple's tactics though. Even this logic board problem is cropping up with many people, Apple is just trying to keep it down. I've also heard that they have gone to the extent of asking some Mac forums to delete such threads/posts.
Tim Dorr Veteran Posted December 24, 2003 Veteran Share Posted December 24, 2003 The logic board problems are with the Dual USB models (G3-based) not the new iBook G4's. So you do not have to worry about that.

I thought so too but some users have reported the same problem with the new G4 iBooks as well.
