Apollo
I loved this idea so i had to post it... Maybe there could just be a sticky for say 1000, 2500, 5000 posts etc.. - and people that reach that level could post something to the thread to how its been such a hard road getting here, I want to thank all of the little people that have helped them reach this level, etc.. etc.. what do you think of this idea which i consider a very good one ? MxxCon
i think post count celebration threads should be banned and post count disabled/hidden thank all of the little people that have helped them reach this level what level? level of spamming msgboard? it's quality over quantity :pinch:
mlerner
It's dumb to post things like that.
Tim Dorr Veteran Posted December 12, 2003 Veteran Share Posted December 12, 2003 I like the idea. Maybe they shouldn't be sticked, and post counts in them should be disabled, but I like the idea of not having to have 5-10 threads in the GD just devoted to the topic. I've never seen any other board that has people doing this, and I don't think it helps anyone...

Tim Dorr Veteran Posted December 12, 2003 Veteran Share Posted December 12, 2003 or devote a section strictly for these types of threads.. That's taking it to an extreme, and encouraging it.
Apollo
I like the idea. Maybe they shouldn't be sticked, and post counts in them should be disabled see what you can do about it tim ;) everyday we see 2/3/4/5 threads like those and they have no real purpose
CatnipOligarchy
no, i think this idea sucks. i say you either ban the threads or leave them as they are. if you combine them all in one big thread, then they will be forever long with people saying "congrats" and it would take forever to actually find the orignal posts. each person normally has someone individual to thank, something unique to say, so i dont see why its a problem to have them in seperate threads. they really arent that annoying, they are very clearly labeled, just avoid them. yanman
yeah leave it as it is... i mean it's been a tradition in neowin right? and also, if you no like, no read... lol and i also like the idea of the sticky.. it makes the forum look a lot neater and everything

Toxikk Veteran Posted December 12, 2003 Veteran Share Posted December 12, 2003 it doesnt really matter but if a user wants to post it, why stop him... as long as its on the right milestone... it isnt that hard to simply not click the link to read the thread... noone is forcing you to read it. i dont see why people get so annoyed with it. Ditto. Also, it's better than telling everyone they can't make the congrats threads... and then on every normal post in other threads they make around that milestone you get "Congrats on XXXX posts!" from users. You'd think having them in these threads would make it easier for people who don't want to participate to ignore them.
Joel
There would be less of these threads if CERTAIN PEOPLE would stop creating them for others members, who maybe would never have created the thread for their milestone in the first place. You know who you are.
