Fyska
i didn't like it, tbh. it was meant to be be all thought provoking, but it so wasn't. it was clever that the ending was the beginning. A sort of "how it all started". I liked that. Otherwise...
Jon
TKAMB rocks, read it, do the work you're ment to be doing, and it may make you think. TV has a lot to answer for.

cyclingplatypus
Jymi...you should really read this book and stop looking for an easy way out of things. Their is a movie too...and if you rent it (it's in black and white that's what we had before we had color tv's) you should also rent Of Mice and Men. Chances are your going to have to read this one too!

ToastGodSupreme
You should check out the movie. Black and white one. It's actually pretty good and follows the book really closely.

Yea, I saw it once. Pretty OK I only got a chance to read half of it when I was in 7th grade :ninja:

Jason the Eighty Eighth
He is obviously trying to get enough information to write his paper on it without reading the book. Don't help him out, if he's going to skirt his work, at least make him do the skirting. i don't think it is appropriate to jump to such conclusions. this thread is obviously into a flame war, and now this thread will be eventually closed. Behold! My Pants
Holy f*cking sh*t!! How on earth does this kid not know how to not read a book and still know what it is about? That's stuff you shoud've mastered a long time ago. You must be a retard, in which case, reading the book won't do much good. (1) that's like an 8th grade level book and (2) http://www.sparknotes.com <-----------c'mon now, don't tell me you don't know about the spark. you can't claim you've used the internet if you've never been to the spark. http://www.pinkmonkeynotes.com is a not as good source, but has a few that sparknotes doesn't. everyone else has told you about sparknotes, but i included clickable links, since you're such a lazy a** oh, and if you ever watch a movie instead of reading the book, you suck so bad. like, for real. that's just stupid. people who do that end up working at McDonalds, becuase they're so stupid. its like the equivalent of getting hit repeatedly with a stupid stick. Jon
I've used the net longer than you little boy and I dont know about 'spark' because I'M NOT A F*CKING RETARD. Idiot. Any kid who doesn't realise that schooling is there for a reason deserves a life of **** jobs and they REALLY don't get my sympathy in the slightest. Do the work, and you might actually become an employable human being. Or you could skip class, ignore the work, and become a retard (NB: I skipped most of Uni, but because I chose home study over lectures. At that age, its viable. At 14 it isn't) (Edit: I'm a little (sic) drunk, so if I'm overly offensive to LP needlessly, sorry!)
harleydog
This is a classic. It was required reading 30+ years ago when I was in school. Am glad they are still putting this on the read list. It is well worth your time to read this book, and others...
Behold! My Pants
how can you say you've used the net for longer than me? its debatable as to whether or not i have a larger grasp on the internet, due to the fact that it played a major part in my upbringing, whereas you were basically grown and had to adjust to the new medium. it came out when i was in 5th grade (roughly), and you would have been a jr/sr in high school. keep in mind you're only 6 years older than me...which is not alot more. i win. Jon
*sigh*. It'll end it tears. Given I'm obviously going to need to explain every comment, I'm just gonna give up and go to bed. Face it, some people have been a part of the Internet longer than you've been able to recite the 10x table. But you fail to see the relevent point.. the only people that would know about 'sparks' are slackers who are either too stupid or too lazy to do their work. IE: Unemployable. (Which is somewhat frustrating because we both came to the same conclusion about McDonalds).
Behold! My Pants
clearly i realize what tissues are for, but how you think you're going to make me come to tears over it...not sure how that's going to work out. i hardly feel that someone who uses sparknotes is too lazy or too stupid. perhaps they would spend their time, reading other, more relevant books, than the drabble that is high school english (for the most part, i've encountered only a few books that i've truely loved in those 4 years)
spacey
its a great book. everyone should read it. forshame anyone who's too lazy to read it and wants a 'summary' lol...
Jason the Eighty Eighth
why can't any discussion end without a ****ing flame war?!
Jon
Either way, thats getting into childish "my dad is bigger than yours" type arguements. Just shush and realise the point as I've mentioned twice now. Only slackers will know about the site you've mentioned. The book is stunning, and should be read. I liked it so much I've still got my school copy :D edit: I removed some futile comments. some people just can't be told. i hardly feel that someone who uses sparknotes is too lazy or too stupid Well that just says it all. Thanks for proving yourself an idiot for me.
Behold! My Pants
joined late in the game? the internet had barely started to be a big thing when i started. back in the days when a 28 baud modem was the best you could do (sure, mabye the **** back in the late 80s, early 90's when all people did were BBS's and MUDs, there were even slower modems) but i got in at basically the start of the modern internet age as we know it, and you call me late in the game? also...anyone who wasn't 13 and using AOL becuase you didn't know any better, going to chat rooms and saying you "enjoy long walks in the rain and foreign movies" while talking to some random person in a chat room missed the f*ck out on one hell of an experience -whether you know it or not. Well that just says it all. Thanks for proving yourself an idiot for me. that doesn't mean all the people who use them are not idiots, but i know plenty of people who use/have used them and are far from being an "idiot". i also feel sorry for you if you didn't keep up with the stinky feet chronicles, or when the personality quiz was all there was i also still have my school copy, which i read.
