Apple is hiding an embarrassing iPhone 6 camera bulge

Recommended Posts

Apple has an unpleasant bulge it's hiding. The latest iPhone 6 has slimmed down to just 6.9mm of metal in what Apple describes as a "streamlined profile," but it has picked up one element that isn?t particularly streamlined: an ugly camera bulge at the rear. You wouldn?t necessarily spot it if you were browsing Apple?s website though. While some images display the bulge clearly, there?s a number where it has simply vanished from sight.

The iPhone 6 plus is very interesting to me that I use a Lumia 1520. The design of iPhone is getting more sexy and the bigger display is really awesome. I will upgrade when my 1520 got very old with not support from Microsoft.

New product - iBoxers to cover up the unsightly iBulge on your iPhone!

A camera bulge isn't that big a deal - a nice case can at least balance out the bulge, but you'd think as concerned as Apple is with the look of the product they'd find a fix for this. Even if it meant gving up a little bit of the thinness of the phone so the camera stayed flush with the device. As it is, I'd be concerned about scratches on the lens.

Yea, minor complaint but why Photoshop/edit it out of the photos?  I doubt the bulge would steer many, if anyone, away from the product.

I think that is the real point here. The bulge itself is tiny - I spent far too long looking through the pictures going, "I don't see anything?" before finally finding a picture. Then I still thought, "that's what is being complained about?"

Really, the issue is that it would seem that Apple have purposefully edited the screenshot to remove the "bulge." That's not so clever, it probably wouldn't have concerned too many people interested in buying the device.

ok, i just checked out their site.

yeah they are kinda not showing it when they show off the volume buttons..  but it is not as big of a deal that you make it sound.

why hide it in the side view?  some reason that you hide the background on this photos/renders...   they are showing of the edge design.

i think it is a minor issue, and does not matter, as everyone who will buy it knows that it will be there.   woopty do

Calling it now, iPhone 6s without camera bulge.

doubt it.

This is the only thing that matters here.

we will just have to see it in person

it is saphire though. almost impossible to scratch.  so i would not worry about it too much.

i have sapphire glass on my watch, and i scratched it against concrete... nothing.    i think only diamond can scratch it

What is the thinnest phone available without a camera protrusion?

Wait, I thought this whole sapphire thing was debunked and proven only the iwatch was designed with saffire, the iphones were "ion-strengthened  glass" (Gorilla glass under  their own label )

Looks like The Verge is trying to shake their perceived Apple bias by getting the Windows guy to write Apple hit pieces.

The iPod touch product shots hasn't included the camera bulge when taken from the other side for two years now.

Photoshopped out? Simple trick of optics? I don't know. I'm too busy being irate over links to download a free U2 album showing up on my wife's phone.

Talk about nitpicking, the bulge is under 1mm at least based on the dummies that are out

So, about the width of 4-12 strands of human hair...  :shifty:  :)

Strange that it's removed from pictures. Does that seem dishonest to anyone else?

It's like when they showed Flash content on iPad stock images.

Just watch any of the old Mac vs. PC ads.

Somebody is living in the past...  I definitely agree that those ads were atrocious and annoying, but they certainly weren't a rant of complete BS by any means.  Try again?
