Goin to Canada for New Years

Recommended Posts

The city Niagra Falls is in is.....*drum roll*  Niagra Falls, Ontario  lol

Anyways... don't bother bringing alcohol. Just buy it here. Your dollar is worth more here, so beer will be cheaper for you.  You don't want to be paying taxes on beer you bring over the border. Like Silly_walk said its called Duty.  AND you won't have a problem finding beer on New Years Eve. Niagra Falls is a busy place. Just ask whoever's around where the nearest Beer Store is (yes thats what its called)

The beer stores we have in canada are namened or atleast in ontario is

1. The Beer Store (Yes, thats right)

2. The LCBO (Yep, thats the one the goverment owns :p lol )

There was one other one but I forget, but if your going to the falls, it shouldn't be much problem finding booze, like Spydie said, just ask some one where the nearest Beer Store is, just make sure if they ask where your from say something like toronto because I know that some canadians like me (I'm sorry to say this but :s) Will give you directions off a cliff or into the middle of nowhere if I or They Knew you were ammerican, Alot of us canadians here just like to see what they will fall for , more of us just want to see if your as guliable as you make your selfs out to be so watch out when they ask where your from...

[Edit] Also i gotta say our Goverment owning a alchol retailer sounds funny :p its more like vodka and wine and stuff there but still :D theres some beer there :D [/Edit]

Thats odd, I don't recall ever being gullible. If they're retarded and immature enough to judge me based on what "my country" does, then I'll hand them a spoon and they can eat my ass.

But hey, thanks for the reply and the information.

dude, i am a canadian, i live in america and if you want beer, buy it in canada at the Beer Store, and take the extra 1 odd hour to drive up to Toronto.

As for the guy who was saying sh*t about Americans, if you can't even spell american (with one m assh***) or gullible then you don't deserve to talk. Canada is great and so are Canadians, but that doesn't give you the right to judge people on the basis of their place of birth. while you are at you can use that spoon to eat my ass too.

Well if you can spare some time I would check out Powell River. It is very rare that it ever snows there and the weather is pretty much like Seattle. If you go to Vancouver you can ask or look at a map to find the BC Ferries and you can take two ferries to get too Powell River. Both of these Ferries can hold at least 200 cars and it cost if memory serves me right 24 bucks CAD for a car and like 8 bucks CAD per person. They also have a pretty good chessecake on these ferries. I go almost just for the BC ferries. Such a nice ride.

Well, that isn't weird at all.

I live on southside of Steeles Ave in Scarborough (Toronto), and walk cross Steeles (which is the northside) I'm in the town of Markham.

The Beer Store... I wish we had those in Quebec... but, well, we have it better - since you can get beer at almost every depaneur (corner store) or super market or wherever. Even the SAQ (Quebec's beer store, dealing only in hard liquor) has 'express' stores that stay open late, so you can booze more! HAHA!!

AND IT"S A DEPANEUR! d-eh-pah-nerr Not a corner store or whatever you non-french knowers call it.

Gah! BC Ferries. Pain in the ass. I have to avoid those things while I'm sailing. Stupid lumbering monsters.

As for New Years? Bottom line - don't bring alcohol. Buy it up here. Try to get to Toronto, it'll probably be better. And the Beer Store is owned by the government too, isn't it? I'd always thought it was, but I might be wrong. Enjoy your visit to Ontario! :p

Well they are a pain the the arse if you have to use them all of the time but it is a nice ride for a visitor. Also I wouldn't have said anything about trying the BC ferries if I didn't know for sure that the strike was over with them. I found out from a couple friends and next thing I know I see it in the St. Pete Times Sunday Paper that they settled. I never understood why you have to pay per ride fees when the land and ferries and such are owned by the government. Most people just hate paying twice for the same thing and that is pretty much what they do.

both beer store and LCBO (Liquer Control Board of Ontario) are government owned. Beer store only has beer, LCBO have everything else and the same beer for more $$$.

People, stop telling him to go to BC - if he's going to Niagra Falls cause he's relatively close to it, then he is definately not close to BC.

Toronto is pretty damn close to Niagra falls and has a lot more variety (much bigger city). Wherever you go, try the herb - there's not much of a penalty for it if you did get caught  - but you won't :D .

I live downtown in the west end. Vancouver and Montreal kick ass too.

I'm more than happy with the New Year's eve parties in Ottawa-Gatineau (those are in Ontario and Quebec, respectively). I know a few bars on both sides of the river that are staying open all night just to celebrate, obviously they don't advertise due to the bar curfews, but I know the owners so they told me about it :D
