patseguin Global Moderator Posted September 26, 2014 Global Moderator Share Posted September 26, 2014 I have a wireless network at my business that always worked fine with our previous iPhones. My iPhone 6 even finds the network and I enter the password and it accepts it and appears to connect and the wifi icon is up top. However, the phone won't use the connection for anything. If I try to browse the web, check for app updates, do OS update, it just fails. If I turn off wifi, everything works (although I can't update iOS over cellular). Why would the device appear to be connected but not actually use the network?
dipsylalapo Supervisor Posted September 26, 2014 Supervisor Share Posted September 26, 2014 Is there a proxy that needs to be used? I have similar issues where I work
Squuiid
Usually DHCP not allocating an address or a DNS issue. Check what IP and DNS entries have been assigned. Also, it has been mentioned that iOS 8.0.2 fixes some WiFi issues on the iPhone 6 models. Make sure you update.
techbeck
Make sure the WiFi isnt limited to the number of connections it can have. We have a guest wifi at work which we limit. Also, wouldnt hurt to reset the router if you can. And does your phone connect to other wifi?
+BudMan MVC Posted September 26, 2014 MVC Share Posted September 26, 2014 What provides your wifi? What are you using for security/encryption? WPA2/AES?
Beyond Godlike
Probably dont need to say it, but have you rebooted. My iPad once had this happen and a reboot fixed it.
