GreatShamanGT
Hey guys, I have been out of the game for SOOOO long. It's unbelievable how much has changed. I'm actually struggling to keep up with what's been going on.Here's the issue. I currently have a 2013 MacBook with Windows 8 bootcamped. I'm taking network security classes that require Linux Fedora 20 to be run. I can run one instance of Linux in a virtual machine, but once I boot up a second one, it feels like my computer wants to die. I've been looking around and the Razer Blade seems to fit EVERYTHING I want, HOWEVER, the pricing on the laptop is a bit steep.Does anyone have any advice on computers that might be similar to the Razer Blade in specs and looks? Thanks! Mindovermaster
Since you are looking into Linux, have you looked at System76? They have genuine Ubuntu laptops.
Praetor
it's weird that your MacBook is incapable of using more then 2 VMs... what are the specs (CPU, RAM, SDD or HDD)?
GreatShamanGT
I have a 13in with the i5 and 4GB Ram. It's the regular 500gb with the Intel 4000HD. I'm running Windows 8 off of boot camp. I have not looked at System78, but since this will be an all-purpose laptop for classes, most of the things I will be using, will run on Windows. Because if you have the early model you can upgrade both the ram and ssd on it for much cheaper than the cost of a new laptop and it would be a kick ass machine. You would be more than able to run 2 or more vm at that point. Jason S. Global Moderator Posted October 8, 2014 Global Moderator Share Posted October 8, 2014 i've been eyeing the MSI GS60 Ghost Pro 3K and the Aorus X3 Plus. Both are still around the Razer Blade pricing, though. keep in mind that a lot of these boutique laptop manufs use the same Clevo or MSI chassis. Theyre essentially all the same laptop, but with varying price tags. Origin, for instance, overprices their laptops. Maingear does the same thing.
