Not messed around with this in XP, but in 2k, I use winroute, which runs as a service, so stays connected.

(and its a handy program, allows NAT for a home network, simply packet filtering, dhcp, bladebla)

I've used BTInternet since day one, and short of a spate of one hour cut offs recently, they have been fine (as with many many irc type mates). Must be your location!

ok change of plan, dont try winroute, it blue screened xp for me!

However, my connection does stay active when switching users.

Do you have a domain controller set up at home?

The whole login process, and how instances of users are handled is very different in a domain environment, its not longer done via terminal services, as it will be on a normal home pc.
