shodan
Hi guys, today I've seen the greatest Logithech Mx900 in a local mall, guys this mouse is amazing! :woot: The only problem is there isn't anywhere on the box a Mac sign. :( Do you think that the bluethoot device isn't recognized by Panther?!? Or do you think it will work? There's anyone who have tried it? Becuase I'd like to buy it for Christmas, but it's a 119? thing.... and i'd like to know if it works or not!:D:D
SOOPAH256
i'd think it should work for mac considering the OS has built-in support for bluetooth...but perhaps drivers aren't ready/compatible or something... who knows....

macman87
on apple's site, it says the mx 700 works but nothing about the mx 900... i don't think i will work because it doesn't have the mac logo... most products that are avliable for the mac have it... it must be not there for a reason... but thats just me opinion
Zerosignull
the mouse is only bluetooth to the base station, the bit that pugs into the pc, it will work in mac no problems
macman87
also...http://www.logitech.com/products/comparison.cfm?contentid=4999&crid=3&countryid=19&languageid=1 doen't have the mac listed as compatible with the mx 900...
Dazzla Veteran Posted December 14, 2003 Veteran Share Posted December 14, 2003 The bluetooth is only to the receiver and acting as a base station. The mouse wouldn't connect to your powerbook without a base station if that was what you're thinking. You're better off buying a MX700, especially if you've already got bluetooth. BananaMan
Why not pick up the MX700? It's cheaper, and the only difference is that it uses RF instead of bluetooth. Bluetooth may be more evolved then RF, but in the case of MX700 vs. MX900, I don't believe there is any difference whatsoever in terms of accuracy. I think bluetooth has a greater range but who uses their mouse from 30 feet away?
waphle
I seriously doubt that it will work on the Mac "no problems" since all the signs suggest that this mouse does not work with Macs. But when in doubt, visit the manufacturers website! Here is a comparison chart I pulled up clearly indicating that the MX900 is not compatible with Macs. Of course if you want to try your luck, buy it. If it doesn't work send it to me. PM me for my address. :D But seriously, don't get it. Get yourself the cheaper, and equally good (minus the Bluetooth) MX700, and pat yourself on the back. edit: Oops, sorry Phillip. It took me so long to find the comparison chart, by the time I posted you had already posted it. Kudos to you! I'm using the MX700 right now on mere wood, and that thing is rock precise :D it's really hard to beat the accuracy of the MX 700. Just be sure to put the base as far from big electromagnetic comptuer components (Computer and Monitor) as possible, or there will be interferences. monkey55
There have been a few threads on this in the forums at www.Spymac.com and www.Macrumours.com , as far as i can tell the mouse does work under Panther however you cannot map any of the extra buttons, so it only recognises it as a 3 button mouse not 9 button also some people are reporting a slight lag though this doesnt happen to everyone. Expose however will let you map the extra buttons into expose functions. Hopefully Logitech will provide an OS X driver soon, but until then you either live with reduced functionality or another mouse. Hope this helps, Umes
shodan
Thanks guys! The reason why I'd like to buy the mx900 instead of mx700 is because i have an iMac, with no bluethoot support, and for christmas i'll recive a nokia n-gage, so i figured out that if i buy the mx900 i will also have a bluethooh reciver, without buying the d-link one! :D I don't really care about the 9 buttons, 3 and a wheel are more than I need, but anyway I think I'll wait a little longer! Island Roots
I also have an MX700 (have been using it for several months) and I couldn't be happier with it. I've had no problems with its accuracy.

Garry
The MX900 does work with Panther. I really liked the mouse, and used to work in PC World, so I decided to bring my powerbook and see if it would connect. Passkey 0000, and voila ... no problems. Of course, the basestation was only useful for charging and couldn't be connected to the Mac bu the onboard Bluetooth worked a treat.

Isn't it and USB Bluetooth adapter?!? Or it's just a recharging unit? I mean, if i don't have a built in bluetooth adpter on my iMac, can I connect the basestation to an USB port, and use it as a bluetooth adapter? SFNE Freak
Nice! Very good to know it works with the built-in Bluetooth. It is now on my list of stuff to get.
