I am looking to upgrade to a 4K TV, but I have a few must haves.

I am looking for the thinnest (body, thickness) and the thinnest bezel as well.

Has anyone done research on 4K TVs (to purchase duh) and might know what the best looking ones are?

Obviously a good picture, 4K, and being Smart is also needed, but those thin frames/bezel I really want.

Being Smart shouldn't be one of your must haves.  Most, if not all, of the top TV brands "Smart Features" are a bunch of crap.  You'd be much better served by an HTPC, Amazon Fire, Roku etc.  The menu's are slow, unresponsive, combersome and are rarely updated.  I would just cross that off your list, some of the best TV's available don't have Smart features.  Although if the best 4K TV availble has a so called 'Smart', well then go for it.

Find yourself a Best Buy that has a Magnolia room and go check out some of the newer 4K HDTV's and talk with the guys there.  Look at the different TV's, see what you like, what's new etc.  I'd almost advise you it's worth getting a nice OLED TV, although most of them are still 1080p for now.  Your going to get much better color's and by the time 4K's are more readily availble and they actually have a 4K bluray standard, you'll be able to upgrade to a 4K OLED TV.

Loving my Samsung HU8550. The 8550 is the non-curved version of the 9000. There are many reviews on YouTube that should give you an idea on its sexiness. You are better off going into Best Buy to get a hands on view. It is currently on sale:

the thinner the bezels the worse the PQ. so what's most important to you, PQ or "sexy" design ?

Not sure about that, all the best TV's generally have SMART and 3D and all the other crap slapped on to make the purchase seem worth it to the clueless people who don't understand PQ and don't think better PQ is worth the price hike alone, so they slap on the smart and 3D features which for the make is essentially free to ad on anyway. Never seen a modern high end TV without these features.

I've got the Panasonic TC-P60U50.  Which is a 60 in Plasma, made in 2012.  Panasonic's last year to make plasmas.  It has fast switching phosphors which produces some of the best black levels only rivaled by the new OLED TV's and a few other high end plasma displays.  Although there is no smart features, unless you count having a USB port to play general media.  They are out there.

hmmm Panasonic still made plasma's last year, they released their last "new" models of plasma last year before stopping "development" of plasma panel technology.

Also the higher end and better panasonic plasma models, which had better surface coating and better black levels did have smart technology, their mid models has smart as well, and pretty much all of them had 3D.
