Windows on Mac Help

Recommended Posts

Okay, i've used a mac for the grand total of 30mins in my entire life but i have a friend who considers me his "geek" (a lil like "his bitch" but with a screwdriver) and has just bought a new iBook. Anyways, he used to have windows (and broke messed it up a lot - hense me being his geek) and needs some windows programs on his new iBook, so i suggested an emulator.

anyways, i have no experience with any emulators except wine for linux (much). I need you mac worshipper's opinion on a good emulation solution. ive heard about virtual pc but it sounds expensive (plus i cant find it on kazaa or bit-torrent lol). does anyone have a suggestion for a good yet cheap/free emulator?

i am not going to ask for anyone to trade software with me and my huge pc-titles library and ftp server.... i wouldnt do that ;)

ps. i have a pm button

cheers

um, Virtual PC sucks. period. if you need to do work on the PC soo bad, use a pc. (or get a dual 2.0ghz g5 with 8Gb of ram so you can load windows onto a virtual hard drive, and have 2gb of memory for windows...) :o

Virtual PC does NOT suck. It does a very good job for what it's supposed to do. I run VPC with win2000 on a 867PowerMac, and I have no problem using IE or other smaller apps. And right now, VPC is really the only option for running windows on a Mac.

Why don't you post the programs he likes on windows, and we'll post better alternatives for OS X.
