chrisj1968
I installed Crysis2 again on my new laptop here and created a shortcut on my desktop, start menu and task bars and whenever I click on it to start the game, Windows 8.1 opens a dialog box to look for an app to open that link. I checked the target and start in boxes to be sure the directories are correct and they are. is there a tweak to get around this? I installed Crysis 2 in the default folder(s) By the way, thank you ahead of time.
nyolc8
Make a screenshot of the game exe file in explorer (with path visible) and a screenshot from the shortcut target field and show it here. Just to make sure there isn't any typo or wrong drive letter, or something...

chrisj1968
the explorer side Now for the shortcut I noticed also that the installer didn't create a Electronic Arts\Crysis 2 entry on my start menu
chrisj1968
ok ,this is what I'm going to do. Apparently the download at amazon got jacked up pretty bad. so much so that the extraction folder, where the games extract themselves, had a serious issue. missing files etc. so I'm not too discouraged by this. I'm re-downloading now and I'll get back to you all. thanks for being there!
Aergan
If you're running Microsoft Security Essentials / Windows Defender, add it to the exclusion list or it will stop it opening past the intro video (as I found out last night). May affect other AV products also.
chrisj1968
Ok an UPDATE: I'm not sure but, I think I "might" have connected my amazon download copy of Crysis 2 to origin's game launcher like Steam. It shouldn't have been a factor however, for what it's worth, Crysis 2 now works. I've NEVER finished the game due to life's issues. The game DOES NOW work

chrisj1968
Enjoy :) Crysis happens to be my favourite FPS game series. I appreciate that. I'm getting a ways into the game. learned to utilize the mounted MG's and detach them and use them as the terminator did with the minigun.. sweetness.
