suntzu
Hey All, First, SuSe 9 is an unbelieveably great Distro. IMHO it is perfect for the power user or the newb. I have been working with linux for over 2 years and this is by far the best I've seen yet. Great job Suse!!! Now for the request, what DVD players is anyone out there using in Suse 9? I have always used Ogle, and Mplayer in the past. Any recco's? Thanx
MR_Candyman
uhhh...personally I can see SuSe being good for small businesses and for newbs, but I'm not totally satisfied with it (and I only consider myself an intermediate user). I use Jamd (newb distro by far but I still love it), Slackware (why do people think it's so hard to install???), and Gentoo DVD Players...I just use Mplayer...I know there's some others which sound good but I could never bother to use em. suntzu
Follow up question.... Foe some reason I can't edit the entries in the kmenu. I went to panel>properties>edit kmenu and made the changes but the apply button is greyed out. I also tried loggingin as root which did the same thing. markwolfe Veteran Posted December 16, 2003 Veteran Share Posted December 16, 2003 I'm on my Mandy laptop, and I can make changes in the KDE Control Module window, and also when I edit the K Menu (on Mandy it runs their MenuDrake frontend). I don't think it's a permissions issue where you have to be in root, because I am not - and I wasn't prompted for root PW, either... Maybe someone with SUSE can give you a better answer. muzzle79
I currently am run'n xine on my laptop under suse. You're really just going to need to install the liddvdcss rpm and all should work : D also remember to enable dma mode on your dvd device or you'll get terrible playback performace Btw i'm using the xine -ui installed of the dvd rom myself instead of the kaffeine frontend.
