remote Desktop Connection Problem

Recommended Posts

Ok,

I tried to run the "remote Desktop Connection" client in suse 9 and I keep getting this error message:

Connection failed. No server running at the given address and port.

I entered in 192.168.0.5:0

It is a windows 2000 terminal server. I get the same message when I try from the command line. I know that my address is correct, because I can terminal in from windows. There are no other network issues, becuae I can transfer files to and from that specific server. I can ping the server also. I also tried by domain name but no luck....

Any ideas?

I use vnc for my infrequent remote desktop needs.

I assume you are trying to connect using Microsoft's Remote Desktop feature?

Do you know what program it is running on your SUSE box? I am looking at sourceforge.net to look up some information on what you may have been running...

I didn't know there was Linux support for MS Remote Desktop...

I still prefer vnc.

there are some good frontends to it as well (most notably tsclient) but I use it on my Gentoo system at work and it connects to everything just fine, including RDPv5 (XP/2003) based RDP servers as well as Windows 2000 TS.

I have VNC set up w/ xinetd on my work system to allow remote connections to it just like a terminal server. :) ;)
