Showan
Well here something right off the bat that will hinder its performance "The boot partition is located on a SATA 3.0 SSD but it's only operating at SATA 2.0 speeds" If what your looking for is snappy - you might consider updating the MB or see if you can add a sata 3 card? Also why so many disks, doesn't seem like they are full - they are only usb 2, and sata 2, etc.. Might be time to consolidate and put them in a NAS box if just used for storage.. Get something bigger and faster if you want to connect to your PC, etc. That would be my advice.. These were drives that I picked up over the yrs. The fact that they are still going is actually surprising... So I just re-purpose them... I try not to put certain things together. I try to keep goofing off and things of importance separate from each other. Maybe I should, buy a little NAS box and throw them all in there... 2 Drives resides on a HDD Dock and 2 more reside in my case. Something such as this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816124064&cm_re=sata_3_card-_-16-124-064-_-Product
+BudMan MVC Posted January 1, 2015 MVC Share Posted January 1, 2015 Yeah something like that might help?? If it doesn't take it out Your out what $35, etc.. While I too like to leverage older disks, etc.. I wouldn't really store much of anything of import on them.. Unless its multiple backup copies, etc.. They are OLD, slow - time to move on at some point The WD black are not too bad - throw them in a nas and pool them and you have some decent storage. But those usb are just horrific when it comes to speed. I sure wouldn't use them connected all the time - I might connect them now and then to do a backup of critical files, and then give it to friend or family to store for DR.. Then next month give them the other one and take to 1 back.. But maybe you can take the disk out and put them in a usb 3 house - those speeds would make me want to take a hammer to the whole setup

Yeah the docks aren't the fastest thing in the world, that's for sure. The 2 external drives have movies and music on them and those live on the HDD Dock, so them being slow is tolerable... The internal one's have pics of my family, others files and such... And one houses some of my games from Steam, Origin, etc... <-These get backed up to other drives that get plugged in to do backups (about once a week) and then unplugged again.
