bontakun
i almost bought an RX-8 it's a great car, but it just didn't fit my (driving) style, i liked the more aggressive style of teh FD's, but they are near impossible to find in good condition, i recommend the RX-8 if it's gonna be your daily driver and fun car, and for the rotary engines, they are alot more reliable than a conventional piston engine when you check an eye on the oil and make sure and rev the hell out of it (rotaries like revs it's cleans off carbon build up inside the engine), rotaries have a lack of torque yes, but will you notice it while driving the car no, and RX-8 like all RX's is a car built to do one thing go around circuit tracks fast thus there is alot more emphasis on weight balance and handling

j0sh
the only thing stopping me from looking at the skyline is the design, and i think they are illigal here in California... skylines are not illegal in california. they just cost an arm and a leg for a R34 Vpsec II. about $95k after import fees and making it California DOT legal. You can go thru MotorEx which is a company in So.Cal that is the main importer of Nissan cars. a R33 GT-R will run you max of about $50k. plus it takes about 3-5 months from the time you order the car, to the time you get to drive it. so honestly, it's not worth it. Get a STi or the 350z and wait for Greddy to come out with their turbo kit
saiya
well 90k...hmm..no chance of me getting a lease on 20k off dat?...or is it just like direct cash buy from motorEX?..i have a budget line of ~$70,000 so really i'm being picky here cuz i wanna get something i won't regret later on, damn i wish they made 2004 supras

IMO, the RX-8 isnt that great. the horsepower was underrated. if you want a mazda go with the RX-7 and fix it up. you'd be surprised what it can do on the strip as well as an autox event. the skyline is great and all, but have you ever driven a RHD car? a LHD conversion will run you about $15k and it defeats the whole purpose of the car. Chris Allen Veteran Posted December 19, 2003 Veteran Share Posted December 19, 2003 RX-8 all the way. My friend bought one of the first 300 delivered to Canada. We've had it since the release date and I can tell you first hand that it is one amazing machine. There is so much power in that vehicle, not to mention it turns heads everywhere it goes. It's fantastic. I love it. Everytime I ride in it, it feels like a privelidge to be in such a great car. Oh yeah, only 1 speeding ticket since we've had it. ;)
AltecXP
well u can get a car like mine, IF you can find one. not a lot of HP but the close TQ/HP range and gearing make up for it :)

PLEASE!) and engine is already known for gasket problems. the ONLY thing it has is good ride quality, but i dont see how thats worth the extra $$$. and who said mazda doesnt recomand a turbo for the RX-8? Mazdaspeed is working on a turbo RX-8 right now.
kak
Comparing a RX-8 to a Supra TT or a WRX STi is rediculous. Both of those cars are turbocharged off the lot, and the RX-8 isn't. Which one do you expect to be faster? Use a brain before being an RX-8 hater please. It's a non turbo engine, don't expect it to go flying down the drag. Pegus
that is the biggest over statement ive ever heared LOL, the are barely a performance car (27k and only hit mid high 14's? Mazdaspeed is working on a turbo RX-8 right now. Please stop spreading mis-information. Like Mazda says, the RX-8 is a sports car 'like no other'. It is a genuine sports car in that it can hit 0-60mph in 6.2, and can track as fast as a Z or e46 M3. (check the Top Gear video review) True, in a straight line there are better cars that you could buy for the money. But if that is your sole criteria for deeming a car as a 'sports' car then i do pity you. Take it around a track, and the RX-8's chassis and driving dynamics will inspire. Then after you're done, drive the same car home in peace and comfort. Oh did i mention the silky smooth 9000rpm redline rotary which imo is a sound to die for? As for Mazdaspeed, where the hell do you get your info? Mazspeed already dismissed the notion of a turbo renesis, and are strongly considering the use of a blower. For the RX-7 it's likely that they will be using a larger displacement engine.
AltecXP
i got my mazdaspeed info FROM a mazdaspeed site lol 9000rpm lol what the hell? i could rev my escort all the way till 8000rmp doesnt make it a better car. there is nothing apealing about the rx-8 but the hype. the rear door idea got taken from a saturn, the rotary is already having issues. and for 27k id rather get a mach1 and hav emoney left over and KILL a rx-8 on the 1/4 or spend about 3k more and get a cobra, kill it in 1/4 and handling, its like a bare bones performance car. its like one of those cars that you get just to say you have one. oh and if rotary is SOOOOO amazing y is mazda the only place th uses them? cuz you have gett better results w/ a v6 or v8. for christs sake a damn 89 taurus SHO ran the 1/4 about the same as the rx-8 and it cost less, handled like on rails and was a VERY comfortable car and that u can also fit the family in. Preemo
hey, i was like really close to buying the new Mazda RX-8 but then i saw the Nissan 350Z right next to it..then i kinda wanted to go for the 350Z but i dunno if i really want it. its fast and all but i still like the style of the RX-8. I also wanna drag race..but..argh...any one have any good suggestions on what car is good for drag racing and could be fixced up alot to get alot more horses?..um..i really would buy a Toyota Supra on the spot if i saw one but since i don't see one i thought that the RX-8 would be nice once its fixed up....is this not true?...some one help my mind is to boggled Hands down get the RX-8. It's got 50/50 weight distribution (which is rare in cars) for some AWESOME handling! Hands down! And if you add some after market parts for it, you'll be a happy man. :D
kak
He said 9000rpm redline, not revving it to 9000. Your escort would sound like it would be ready to blow up at 8000, the RX-8 would be hitting it's peak performance level around 9000. You're too quick to respond to look at what you're typing and notice it's complete stupidity. The RX-8 is a fine choice, but you're allowed to not like it.
