AltecXP
i dont even think an escort can get past 6000   actually my car peaks at 6100, and i know a guy that makes power well into the high 7000's, and runs 13's so reving to 9000rpm dosent mean its fast, just takes longer to o make the power, a car that makes 250hp at 5500rpm eill beat a car that has to wait till 9000rpm to make full power, and just cuz the redline is at 9000 it doesnt mean it makes power the full way there. kak
You're kidding, right? You should pick up a new hobby if you're that d*mn stupid. It's a different type of engine, it doesn't work the same way a traditional engine does. So comparing the rpms to power is just stupid.

....
Not sure if you're joking or not but WTF?!!!!RX-8 IS the new ... you know what? Forget it. How are you today? :D owned. The RX-8 is awesome. Mazda makes great cars. well u can get a car like mine, IF you can find one. not a lot of HP but the close TQ/HP range and gearing make up for it  Er..no thanks. Your car may have a great engine or whatnot...but......it's butt-ugly.
-}x0{-
nono, there are rumors of the rx7 coming back in 2005/2006. its rumored to be basically the rx8 with only 2 doors and more hp & tq. the rx8 being the economy and rx7 being the luxury......kind of like the supra and the twin turbo supra. -}x0{-
also, my dad has an original 1976 1st gen 1st year model rx7. he bought it brand new and its still champing along. now before it got old and rusted out, it was a very nice car. no, its not a 10 second car, but it wasnt meant to be a car to be driven only in straight lines. look at it this way...if your going to be driving in a straight line really fast with no speedlimit every day to work go get a viper. if your car will be a commuter, but you want it to handle nice, look flashy, and have some speed to back it up go with the rx8. btw, mazda lowered the bhp of the rx8 from 250 to 238 or around those numbers. johngalt
Having always been a fan of the Rotary based Rxs, I want to see some links showing where the new engine is "already having problems" in it - sheesh, with a 1.3 L displacement, I'd have to say that a 238 bhp is a figure I would be willing to live with if it were to remain N/A for the rest of its life! If I wanted to waste gas, I'd go with the Viper instead - displacement to horsepower ratio is not nearly as good there, but hey - you get what you want. If someone has links showing a definite problem with the engine, please post them for me so that I can continue my research on this car.

eo83
the rx-8 look nice and i wouldnt mind having one but ill rather have the 350z or the g35 coupe or sedan. Ill stick with nissan for its reliability..
yanman
Ok ok, look, Saiya wanted to know which of the two he should get, the RX-8 or 350Z, will people agree with me if I made these suggestions:- If you want a unique 4 door body "coupe" and a rotary - obviously get the RX-8 If you want a sleek looking car with the traditional Jap engine which is less limited compared to the Renesis - get the 350Z Also, why not goto the car dealers and take both cars of a test drive, then you can decide which car to get? isus
hmm twin turbos and juice? might as well ;) if bmw can push 333hp from a 3 liter inline 6, i can get it to run at 10k rpms with 2 turbos and a little bit o 'juice'.
j0sh
i just dont see the point in having just a "boost" from some NOS when you've got constant boost from the two turbos for a longer period of time thru the RPM range.
bdsams Veteran Posted December 20, 2003 Veteran Share Posted December 20, 2003 twin turbos can put alot of strain on your block, while NOS is a short burst
j0sh
twin turbos can put alot of strain on your block, while NOS is a short burst which makes NOS useless if the engine block is built up enough to handle the amount of PSI coming from two turbos.

+Fulcrum Subscriber¹ Posted December 24, 2003 Subscriber¹ Share Posted December 24, 2003 Nice Car! Here's what I found about Torque. (Torque x Engine speed) / 5,252 = Horsepower Means you have about 247 HP @ 4800 RPM! "Torque is a force that tends to rotate or turn things" Straight from my Favorite Site: www.howstuffworks.com!
