Searching... just a blank popup (see pic)

Hello to you all (first post here :)

I'll be synthetic: sometimes, when I try to use the "find" option (in a folder, on a drive, ...), Windows just drops a blank "alert" and nothing else... I've got a screenshot to help you better understand what I mean.

Does it happen to anyone here?... Any solution? :)

Bye!

It all depends on the version of XP you are running, earlier betas sucked when using that search feature (still sux) only now it works :D

I noticed that now the search engine (Search Companion) does not work anymore. I've made a lot of reboot's, tried starting from a previous configuration, tried safe mode, ... nothing.

When I press "Search", it simply does not search and drops the alert (blank alert... too bad). This happens every time, so I have a Windows XP without a "search" feature...

The question is: is there a way to fix/restore it?

:s :(

Someone had a similar problem from installing DivX. I have had no such problems and so I can't really help.
