100 Years in Aviation

Recommended Posts

interestingly, i was watching horizon the other day, where there was an attempt to recreate an aircraft that was designed and (possibly) flown before the Wright Brothers, it was really interesting as nothing was left of his design, no pictures, and few design drawings, but none of the final product.

Just a thought.

i was watchin all about airplanes on the history channel today, all daaaaaaaay. It was pretty cool to watch, they not only had stuff about the wright brothers but also everything that was before that and what is now. A very good show to watch, and oh yeah Happy anniversary to flying, wonder where we'll be in 50-100 years from now...

I saw that program on History Channel also where they had the Air Force and Navy pilots trying to fly the re-make of the Wright Flyer. It's amazing how much effort, exact timing, and forward thinking goes into something that seems so simple.

I also thought it to be very interesting that during the re-make test flights, the one day there was no wind, it was the same day there was no wind during the Wright Bros. attempt. And, just like with the Wright Bros., the very next day yielded extremely high winds. Kind of spooky.

did you guys see the model that University of Utah made? it was exactly like the wright flyer 1903, but everything they used was new thechnology and a powerful engine.. during the test.. IT FLEW! it more than flew.. it went way up in the air and the guy made a turn and landed the plane.
