nhjay
Howdy, I'm looking to get a bit more life out of my family's desktop, it really needs a new gpu. The PC is a HP 6000 Pro small form factor PC It is running an Intel Q9400 CPU with 4 GB RAM, a 1TB Seagate HDD and a nVidia GT 610 1GB PCIe video card. OS is Win 8.1 x64 I am upgrading the RAM to 8GB RAM but I'm unsure of the best choice for video card, the current GT 610 is a bit pokey. The challenge is that since the PC is a small form factor, it will only accept a half height card. I've been looking into the GT 730 with GDDR5 RAM, but I've also come across an xfx Radeon R7 240. I haven't used an AMD card in quite some time, the last I owned was a HD 4350, is the R7 240 any good or should I stick with my original plan of the GT 730? Games played are World of Tanks, World of Warplanes, Skyrim, Mass Effect 3 and I'd hopefully Dragon Age: Inquisition. The display on the PC is an HP e231 at 1920x1080 using DVI. Thanks! hellowalkman 1 Share
Brandon H Supervisor Posted January 20, 2015 Supervisor Share Posted January 20, 2015 if you can, this card would probably be your best bet. I have it in my low-profile pc and it works great Galaxy GTX 750 Ti Slim
LaP
Is the length of the card the only concern or the price is one too? MSI makes good card for mini-ITX builds if you can afford them http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R9-270X-GAMING-2G-ITX.html#hero-overview http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N760-2GD5OC-ITX.html#hero-overview
Mindovermaster
He needs low profile, LaP. I second Brando. A friend had that in his HTPC, works great.

I should probably confirm the PSU can handle it first, being an HP business class PC, it is likely to be weak for the Ti 750.
Noir Angel
It won't consume much more power than the other 2, any card which is powered by the PCI-E slot will consume a maximum of 75 watts, any PSU in a remotely modern computer should be able to handle that easily
