Danrarbc
I have to wait for my modem drivers to be ported before I move. That and I want to rack up my uptime to help the Neowin team ;)
MG-Cloud
http://kerneltrap.org/node/view/799 Its for an older 2.6 version, but it should still work. I install my kernel slightly differently than this guy, but the way he does it should still work. Good luck :D
metal_dragen Veteran Posted December 18, 2003 Veteran Share Posted December 18, 2003 Damn! I just recompiled my 2.4.20 kernel again last night. Probably at the exact same time they released 2.6.0! Anyway, I wonder if ebuilds for 2.6.0-gentoo are out yet... *surfs over to www.gentoo.org to find out*
syscrash2k
Yay :D I didn't compile it yet, too lazy :p
Tek
I wouldn't run 2.6 just yet. Just because it's marked stable, doesn't mean it actually is stable. I'll start using it when 2.6.10 comes out.
DTR
Running new 2.6 final (upgraded from test). Unreally stable and fast.
MrStaticVoid
I wouldn't run 2.6 just yet. Just because it's marked stable, doesn't mean it actually is stable. I'll start using it when 2.6.10 comes out. That could be a year from now. The thing has already gone through 11 test versions and countless devel versions. Having used it for the past 6 months, I can say that it is now stable. Why would you wait?
BxBoy
I would upgrade if I wasn't too lazy, hahaha. Everyone should participate in the uptime project that we have going here. I'm sure our linux uptimes will kick ass.
MrStaticVoid
Can you give me more information about this uptime project? I've never heard of it. All of a sudden I'm seeing dozens of people with that thing in their sigs.
helmers
Sweet. I hope that Gentoo will add ebuilds for differently patched flavours of this baby. I've been using the last beta for a while now, and I don't think that they've perfected it since then. But in january, it should be sweet & ready to kick some behind :)

I'll start using it when 2.6.10 comes out. I don't know what your definition of stable is but I've been on the 2.6 series since test6 and it hasn't crashed once.
