GameCube Sales Soar

Recommended Posts

December 16, 2003 - Nintendo of America today announced that sales of its GameCube console were through the roof for the month of November. The company also revealed that Mario Kart: Double Dash!! was the number-one selling game for the busy holiday shopping period.

According to TRSTS data, 754,000 GameCubes were sold during the month of November. This is particularly good news as it proves that the recent $99 price reduction is continuing to spur sales.

Though GameCube sales failed to outperform that of Sony's, which sold 850,000 PlayStation 2s, Nintendo did seriously one-up Xbox sales for the month. Microsoft's console sold through only 490,000 units.

Just as important, Nintendo's flagship GameCube title for the holidays, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, was the number-one selling game in November with 528,000 units sold. This figure is made all the more impressive because the racer was out available for only two weeks of the month.

Game Boy Advance, meanwhile, sold through 1.3 million units in November, easily besting everything else out there.

its amazing to me that so many people are STILL buying PS2's. The system has long since started showing its age but still people buy it. The power of brand I guess.

Nintendo is and always will be the best. Sony is just winning because people think Nintendo is too 'kiddy'. I'll call Nintendo a kiddie console when I can beat the game in less than an hour. Sony has only a few good titles. Stop making Grand Theft Auto and you have no sales...simple as that. ;)

No kidding, the Diamond Cup (F-Zero GX) is insane on even the easiest difficulty.

No, I just guess they realised how stupid they look if they came back saying that the Gamecube 'WAZ TEH SUX0R', despite the fact that its flying off the shelves.

I think people only get PlayStation because the majority has that, so they get it because if they get something else they risk being made fun of (and we know we don't want that, right?). I think it is pathetic that everyone disses the GameCube when in fact, it has the best games....Just don't get caught by your friends because they might 'make fun of you' or 'stop being your friend'.

Mav Phoenix: I agree with you 100%. If you can beat that I give you a thumbs up. (Y)

Speaking of dissing the 'Cube - I was sitting the other day at the end of the hall with some students and we were talking about credit cards. Well I said I got my first statement, lost it and was worried about that it was gonna be late. Well, I said I got SMB3 and my MK: DD guide - and one kid asked "Why would you get a GameCube?" and before I had the chance to ven think about it; other than the fact he was dissing it - I said "Cause I wanted to." - he was dumbfounded and was like "ohhhh".

moron.
