Recommended Posts

i had to make some changes in bios and the laptop works and i've found some workaround to get it to boot inot windows but how can i get rid of this...

i did have to convert the hard drive to GPT and then also disable secure boot and then lastly changed to Legacy Support....

HERE IS THE ERROR

When I restart computer it says

Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed

Insert Recovery Media and Hit any Key

Then Select Boot manager to choose a new Boot Device or to Boot Recovery Media

What changes did you have to make to the BIOS?  What model laptop is it? If you just installed it I would reinstall it, remove all partitions from the drives and let the setup program create them automatically.

Since the Yoga comes with 8.1 shouldn't the process be to add Windows features then you can just put in your WMC key and it'll download it?

Uhhhh? As far as I know, booting GPT Windows partitions using Windows' boot loader works with UEFI BIOS-only, not legacy BIOS. I know Windows 7 and 8 will refuse to install to a GPT partition on non-UEFI systems. If you want the boot loader to boot GPT Windows partitions, you'll need UEFI BIOS enabled. If you want the boot loader to work with a Windows partition on legacy BIOS you'll need to reinstall Windows on a MBR disk.

EDIT: Try reading this and this.
