burning .dmg

Recommended Posts

this is what i found:

How to Burn a Mac disk image on Windows

.DMG images

1) On your Mac, open disk copy

2) Select File>Convert image

3) Choose the .dmg you want to convert

4) Convert to "DVD/CD Master" - it will convert it to .dmg.cdr

5) Rename .dmg.cdr to .iso

6) Copy the disk image to your PC

7) Burn as a .iso with Nero 6/5.5

Note: DMG's that have been segmented are converted the same way; select the first DMG part for each disk image when Converting (step 2).

-------------

but some are saying you can just rename the .dmg to an .iso

anyway, it gives you something to try

You can burn DMGs directly in nero without using a Mac to convert them. I forget how exactly but you basically have to use the 'Burn Image' function or something and choose the dmg as a foreign image. It is possible but i've forgotten the details - sorry :(.

Burning .dmg's in Nero depends on the .dmg being a "CD/DVD Master", not a "compressed" one. Otherwise, you are correct. Also, you need to be sure to select HFS instead of Mode 1 in the dialog box that appears after selecting the file name.
