paulmars
backed up my files on a 250g HDD reinstalled win7 on 500g HDD During install, I ignored the 250 and partitioned the 500g HDD like I have done thousands of times before. Then choise one of the partitions on the 500G HDD to install wnin7. Install complete and win 7 is on the proper partition on the 500g HDD. I see the other 500g HDD partitions listed as D and E in the file manager. However, I dont see the 250g HDD looking in administrative tools~computer management I see the 250g HDD as unallocated. Any ideas how i can fix this and get back my important needed files? (these were my backups) pa
Romero
First of all don't touch the 250GB drive, i.e. don't format it (again) or anything. Ideally I'd recommend disconnecting your 500GB drive (just in case), booting from a TestDisk LiveCD and attempting partition recovery on the 250GB. If you don't want to disconnect the 500GB drive you could run TestDisk from within Windows too. If this sort of advanced program is not your cup of tea I'd recommend any good GUI data recovery tool like GetDataBack/GetDataBack Simple.
