Stardock introduces Tiles 2 with high DPI monitor support
by Rich Woods
Today, Stardock is introducing Tiles 2, the latest iteration of its virtual desktop solution. The app lets you make various desktops of related apps and such. For example, you can have one for work, one for school, one for play, and so on. And there's quite a bit that's new in Tiles 2.
A big focus here is support for high DPI monitors, and as CEO Brad Wardell pointed out, it's about keeping up with the times. "It's important that we keep our apps up to date with changes in technology," said Wardell. "One of the things the new Tiles focuses on is high DPI support for modern monitors and general performance increases across the board in order to use less PC resources."
Another big improvement in this version is integration with other apps in the Object Desktop suite, assuming that you use those too. It has Groupy integration, so you'll see your groups in your tiles, and it has light and dark mode support, integrating with Curtains and supporting your custom theme.
Here's the full list of features:
Tiles 2 is available as part of the Object Desktop suite of apps, which is currently available for $29.99, or you can get it on its own for $9.99.

Start10 1.96
by Razvan Serea
Windows 10 has brought back a start menu, but the focus is heavily on apps, which are preloaded and pre-organized and are viewed as tiles rather than in the simple list of programs in Windows 7. The start menu is there, but consumers may feel the brunt of this app-focused layout. Start10 returns the familiar start menu to Windows 10, and allows for additional look and feel customization with just the couple of clicks of a mouse.
Start10 brings a more familiar look and feel to the Windows 10 start menu. The new start menu in Windows 10 has a very app-focused layout, and Start10 helps users with a familiar Windows 7 style layout, and also offers additional customization with just a few mouse clicks.
Start10 also maintains the familiar “folders” metaphor. Right now in the Windows start menu everything is listed in alphabetic order, which can make the start menu quite long, whereas in previous versions of Windows applications like Word, Excel and the other Office applications were found in the “Microsoft Office” folder on the start menu.
In Windows 10 the search bar has been taken out of the start menu and placed on the task bar. Start10 allows you to have the search functionality back in your start menu.
Start10 1.96 changelog:
Some tweaks to search to ensure the Start10 search isn't run ever if you are using Cortana mode and to ensure the search is terminated if you close the menu.
Start10 is only $4.99. For more information about Start10, please visit www.start10.com.

Total War: Warhammer III announced by Creative Assembly, coming this year
by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe
The Total War: Warhammer trilogy that Creative Assembly began back in 2016 is concluding this year with the newly revealed third entry. After several teasers from the past few days, publisher Sega announced the latest turn-based and real-time strategy title today with a brand new cinematic trailer, catch it above.
Total War: Warhammer III will have the conflict expanding to further territories like the Realms of Chaos and Lands of the East. New fantasy races are incoming too, with Kislev and Cathay, as well as Chaos factions Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh and Tzeentch. The studio promises to deliver the most diverse array of "legendary heroes, gargantuan monsters, flying creatures and magical powers that the series has ever seen."
"Our vision, from the start, was to create a series that felt like an incredible journey through this world we all loved," said game director Ian Roxburgh. "The enormous support of our players in ensuring the success of the first two installments has pushed our ambition to new heights, and we can’t wait for everyone to experience it."
Like in the first two games, Creative Assembly will allow players to combine the maps of the complete trilogy to have one massive campaign. However, this will arrive as a post-launch free update, as the studio's full focus is currently on Total War: Warhammer 3.
Total War: Warhammer 3 is coming to Windows later this year, with Linux and macOS versions coming soon after. Both Steam and Epic Games Store versions are currently available for pre-order, and Creative Assembly will be bringing the previous two games and all their DLC to the latter store before the latest game's launch.
