Disney is making Frozen 2

Frozen was a smash hit when it was released in late 2013, and now Disney is getting ready to make another one. Frozen 2 is now in development from the original film's directors, Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck. There are no real details on the movie yet, but you can be sure that Disney will be looking for another soaring Idina Menzel song to get stuck in viewers' heads. Of course, that Disney would make a sequel to Frozen was never much of a question: it's the most successful animated movie of all time, and no studio is going to turn down the chance to recreate that success. A release date has yet to be announced.

I'm seriously getting sick of sequels. Can't they just let it go?

No 1 animated of all time, No 5 movie of all time (non adjusted for inflation).  It has made $1,254,512,386 worldwide so far.  Do you really think they would let it go?  (unless you just wanted a post for the pun)

The only reason they made a Cars 2 was not because it was a great movie, Cars sold the most merchandise of any Pixar movie and they wanted more of that money.  At the end of the day that's what they're in it for.

It's also headed to Broadway, like Lion King and Beauty and the Beast, then to a live action feature as is their current practice (Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast etc.)

Who's surprised? It was pretty obvious they would do considering the success of the first.

Where's our inevitable 5 straight to DVD/BR films after this then? :p

All I hope for this is to be the first Theatrical Disney Animated Movie Sequel in years and not a Direct-to-DVD sequel and that the Storyline connects to the first movie in a very well done way and that It is extremely good, more so than the first movie as I really loved the first movie and would love to see the sequel in theaters only if its going to be really good.

screw the new films.

best ones are the classics like;

aladdin, beauty and the beast, little mermaid, lion king and jungle book.

they were all unique animated films. all the new ones are so generic looking now with the skinny people with massive eyes, truly cringe worthy animation at times.

Don't understand the popularity of the original movie.  I watched the first 30 minutes or so and it was so boring that I turned it off.  Maybe the sequel will be better.

Between 3 and 4 you mean?  Maybe, i'd have to check release dates but at least toy story had 1-3 come out in pretty close order.

It seems like, when Pixar is short of ideas they spin up a sequel.   Oh well.
