+Tyranade Subscriber² Posted March 18, 2015 Subscriber² Share Posted March 18, 2015 So I just did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 Professional onto my PC and first thing I did is ran Windows Update and I installed them all and restarted my PC and upon reboot I get the "Windows update failed, Reverting Changes" so I did I did a System Restore and tried again, same issue. So I did ANOTHER clean install and ran windows update and I just hit the same error again. The only thing I have done different this time is installed Windows 8.1 in UEFI mode. +Tyranade Subscriber² Posted March 18, 2015 Author Subscriber² Share Posted March 18, 2015 UPDATE: So I did some googling and apparently it can happen on a fresh install If you try to do too many updates at once so I only installed some of them and it did the first 39 fine and now I am downloading a big 890MB update and am going to see if that installs. Seriously though the only change I can think of is it being in UEFI mode because I had 8.1 Pro on my system before installed in "Legacy" mode and I Could update it perfectly fine. farmeunit
We had this happen on a LOT of tablets at work. We had to disable Secure Boot, then after updates we could re-enable. It's weird, because it just started happening this year.
