Fortis Posted December 20, 2003 Share Posted December 20, 2003 hey all.. i got fedora 1 and the new 2.6 kernel self-compiled.. i havent used arjanv's redhat kernel package. now - i got the Sound Card Support "y"'d in the kernel compile and i also got ALSA with my sound card, (i8xxx) . this is the prob first, the soundcard detections ays this soundcard is not supported by this OS, however the soundcard works, i can listen to anything eazy peazy and 2ndly.. i cant seem 2 play music from 2 sources!? like, xmms' playz and when GAIM log's on and makes it log on sound, xmms says - ur dsp device is being used. blablabla how do i fix this?! MrStaticVoid Posted December 20, 2003 Share Posted December 20, 2003 In order to play sounds from more than 2 sources at once, your card and drivers have to support hardware mixing, which, I believe, is only supported on the emu10k1 at the moment. I was hoping it would get better in 2.6 now that ALSA is the standard driver, but it appears my card is still left in the dark. Try chaning Gaim's sound playback options, that might help.
