hackr86
No, Kazaa Lite has been shut down because Sharman Networks, owner of the original Kazaa Media Desktop, threatened the creators of Kazaa Lite with a lawsuit for trademark infringment of their name. lilmoonee
i believe that i still infiniges on their copywrite of the actual software. all the k-lite and kazaalite distros are based on one of the kazaa media desktop version. thus they are breaking sherman's copywrite. mark03
Kazaa media desktop and WinMX are legal to use as applications in their own right, provided that illegal activities are not being carried out through these applications. However, since Sharman Networks patented the source code for Kazaa Media Desktop, Kazaa Lite and K++ (as well as other similar applications such as "ishareit") have become illegal to use because they are deemed to be too close a resemblence to the source code. Circaflex
i heard its illegal because it removed all the ads which made kazaa free of charge and the real owners wanted to sue because of that
MxxCon
However, since Sharman Networks patented the source code for Kazaa Media Desktop they did *NOT* "patent" source code. copyright and patent are completly different things. and kazaa is *NOT* illigal. just becuase every ###### and their grandma post illigal content doesn't mean this is what it's designed for. same can be said about web, ftp, irc, IM, etc. kazaa lite and all those other programs are illigal since EULA for kazaa states you are not allowed to modify the software in any way
